Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Zurita.
Hi Juan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started after I purchased a Nikon Camera after High school. I started taking random photos of places I went and was amazed on how good the photos turned out. Eventually, I improved my photography skills day by day and went with the flow.
While I was in the web, I ran into Photoshops main Instagram page. I realize I wanted to do similar stuff to what the page has which is photo manipulations. I downloaded the software and started to learn how to create those photo manipulations I saw on Instagram. I started to create on photoshop and sharing my work on Instagram for others to see. I gained some audience on Instagram and in only three months of posting random manipulations, Photoshop reached out to me twice to share my posts. I was mind blown and realized that people are noticing my work. Months went by and I ended up building an audience that supported my work and shared it all around the web. I stayed motivated by following other photoshop artist and seeing others share my work.
A year later, I got reached out by an upcoming music artist on Instagram to make his album cover. I had never done one before but I knew I could create what he was asking for. I created the cover and got great feedback and payed. At that time, I didn’t know I could get payed for making album covers. The Artist Posted the cover I did and got a big following Audience and had many messages of people wanting to work with me. I then started to grow my network by making collages of artists and making album covers. I can say now I have been able to work with Music labels, small companies, and some of my favorite artists.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are many days I feel I have to be in the right environment in order to create. Being a graphic designer can result in creating for hours and not achieving anything. I think thats one struggle that have had in my career. I had an intership at Facebook Head Quarters in 2019. In the IT field… During that time, I can say I was surrounded by a creative environment which led to boosting my creativity.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My name is Juan, I go by the name _getithowyouliveit on Instagram. I work full time In tech and Full time as an Independent Graphic designer creating Album covers, Collages, Motion design, and 3d renders. I am mostly proud of my time management. Being able to deliver designs on time has been huge in my career. It has led clients to keep working with me and has brought many opportunities my way.
I plan to keep advancing my skills on graphic design in the future. An artist recently brought me in the team to be a graphic designer. I am hoping that can bring more exposure my way and growth.
