Meet Joshua Specks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Specks.

Hi Joshua, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m from Fort Worth, Texas. And I moved to LA on May 17 to pursue a career and beauty influencing. This journey has honestly been such a long one from moving out of a homophobic household and to trying to survive living in la. I started doing make-up my senior year of high school and one day after I graduated my cousin told me to get on Tiktok and the rest is history

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it has its ups and downs I’ve been going through so much personally. Like dealing with finding a healthy work-life balance and even though in the moment the situation doesn’t feel like a blessing babe in the end, the lesson that you learned from it is the blessing that you receive.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a beauty/skincare influencer and I specialize in everything that deals with doing it yourself. I feel like what I’m most known for is being an openly flamboyant gay male. And I feel like what makes me proud is when I see comments like you inspire me or I can’t wait to do the same thing as you. Because I have so many followers to have come to me and told me that they came from homophobic households or that where they live it was illegal to be gay so knowing that I gave them hope that one day that is the life that they will live makes me so happy and proud. Liz has me apart from others I believe is my work ethic and my confidence in knowing that I meant for more. the fact that I am 6ft black man wearing full glam and a miniskirt in Texas I think sets me apart from most.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Well, when you first meet me or work with me I would say that a lot of people don’t expect my voice to be deep nor do they expect me to be so introverted. I’m very shy when I don’t know you but I can adapt quickly.
