Meet Joshua McCall of BRIQ. Merch in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua McCall.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in LA 1996, moved to Long Beach and have been here since. All of my life’s experiences, struggles, lessons led me up to who I am today. Back in March of 2019 I had lost my job. Immediately, the first thing I turned to instead of a pity party was go buy food and water to feed my local homeless community. Its always been a need for me to help other people who can’t help themselves. Although, with me not having steady income I still have a roof over my head, food to eat, and a blanket when sleeping. My girlfriend and good friend from high school went with me on this small “food drive” and was able to help 12 people in all different situations. When on this drive It gave me the purpose I am now the creator and owner of BRIQ.! BRIQ. means BEING REAL IS QUALITY. This is the act of caring for another just because. Being real with your self and other people is a quality way of living, and I decided to make my own clothing brand BRIQ. Merch to support this “phrase” this “movement”. Twenty five percent of the profits made monthly funnel into my community organization BRIQ. Community that focuses on providing food, water, blankets, socks, all necessities needed when out here without. I’m now focused on growing my social media, networking and branding my merchandise generating sales for funding my monthly community drives.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Most important struggle was having the funding with people not wanting to support as if it was a hoax. That’s when I started showing videos on Instagram as proof behind what I was stating.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am the creative director designer for BRIQ. (Being Real Is Quality) . 25% of profits monthly fund my movement BRIQ. community to feed, cloth the homeless, along with other community involvement. I make everything from Hats, T-Shirts, Sweatsuits, etc. which fuels my creative side but also benefits, my surroundings, my community. I am thankful to be able to have something to call my own. Something that gives me purpose, and inspire others to know the most important thing, Love. I’m not in the fashion industry to be in limelights, I just want to be a light in peoples life’s who are experiencing dark times cause I’ve been their before.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really roll by luck I must say I’m blessed, I’ve worked hard, and have taken advantage of every opportunity presented to me in alignment with my vision.
