Meet Joseph Bradford III of B.A.R.E. Truth in South LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Bradford III.

B.A.R.E. Truth Inc. was founded by Joseph Bradford III in 2016. His passion to help the community started at an early age. At the tender age of seven, Joseph’s father passed away and within the same year became homeless and lived in shelters with his mother and siblings. Joseph understood at an early age, that often times good people fall on hard times and due to unforeseen circumstances can find themselves homeless and needing assistance. We want to make a real, lasting difference in this world by strengthening communities and dedicating real time and efforts towards this epidemic of homelessness. Also, there is a strong need for mentorship programs in these same communities as families can be broken apart for various reasons and children miss the opportunity to have a positive role model speak greatness into their lives. B.A.R.E. Truth Inc. wants to take a stand and help others in impoverished communities throughout the world by providing assistance for the homeless, housing, motivational speaking and mentorship programs to help enrich the youth.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This path that I’m on has not been an easy one. Growing up in Kansas City, we face homelessness with my young mother and younger siblings. My father passed away when I was seven so there wasn’t any male role models for me to look to, so I tried to teach myself through the streets.

I moved to Los Angeles about 12 years about with a dream of making the world a better place. I created the nonprofit with that goal in mind but I faced a lot of challenges including funding, doubts from my peers, resources, volunteers and general knowledge of where to begin.

B.A.R.E. Truth Inc – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Today B.A.R.E. Truth is a nonprofit organization. I advocate for the homeless population, homeless resources, I offer housing as well as mentoring for kids and adults. I offer a mentoring program there is currently geared towards our youth and I am a motivational speaker.

I travel throughout the U.S. speaking and hosting free events for people in Impoverished communities. Usually, the ones focused on kids, women and the homeless.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment of my career has been when we opened up our first transitional house and was able to really move people as well as families of the streets and out of the shelters. I was able to call my mother and rejoice with her because we were once in that situation and now I threw my organization. I have a bigger impact on the world.
