Meet Joseph Benjamin of Fashion in Revolt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Benjamin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Joseph. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Fashion in Revolt is a newly-established fashion publication dedicated to the development and success of current and emerging fashion designers. Revolting against boring, dogmatic content that barely scratches the surfaces of what millennials are looking for in online magazines. FIR is finding a new and interactive way to use social engagement tactics to engage with millennials.

FIR is the first fashion publication to included social justice causes to create a significant impact on the millennial generation. Social justice causes are culturally significant to millennials and how they interact with brands. Our goal is social change, we promote social campaign while giving our readers a fresh take on design in all areas.

I created FIR because I recognized the change that is still happening within the media industry. The idea of self is becoming incredibly more important than the idea of fashion or entertainment. FIR is not an online magazine that tells you how to live, or what socially acceptable. We encourage you to live up to your best authentic self.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Along with starting a growing fashion magazine, I am also starting Revolt PR. A millennial PR firm to help brands break into the millennial market and make a significant impact. Smooth? No, it has not been smooth. I’ve had to fight my way into the fashion industry to be where I am today. Fashion In Revolt is officially apart of Vogue premiere partnership. Which allows us to receive private online invitations view fashion show in Paris, Milian, and London. I play many different parts within my title–I must be a Producer, Publicist, Speaker, Director, Writer, Editor, Confidante–or whatever the day may bring.

On a daily basis, I speak to clients, pitch press, produce events and must be able to move between multiple different projects seamlessly. I might be pitching beauty sponsorships, editing contracts and booking hair & make-up tests, or working on lists, meeting stylists to dress celebrities or lend [clothes] for editorials, talking to press about stories and securing coverage, coordinating interviews, writing press releases, attending events, throwing dinner parties, or writing social media strategies. I love what I do, couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

Fashion in Revolt – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Fashion in Revolt is a fashion magazine dedicated to the development and success of current and emerging designers. We explore design in many areas, fashion, film, interior design, and social justice. We are a collective of open-minded, creative professionals; we are here to push the limits of creativity in the digital space.

Fashion in Revolt collective is an inspiring group of young professionals, we are globally inspired by design and social change. We incorporate our ideas about these topics and 30% of the articles we write. We are not just another fashion magazine pushing out content for the kids of Beverly Hills.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our proudest moment is the announcement of the Pop-Culture Awards. We already have SnapChat and Mercedes Benz as sponsors.
