Meet Joseph Adivari

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Adivari.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Born in Long Beach, CA 1991, I am most definitely a millennial 90’s baby perfectionist who has always identified as an Artist or Creative. My very first passions included drawing, singing, and playing video games, all in which that has carried on throughout the years and are what I still partake in the present day. Even at a young age, I have always believed that I could practice and master any type or form of Art if it made me feel happy.

Please tell us about your art.
Photography, Makeup Artistry, and Cinematography are the main crafts that I partake in. Along with these professions I also am a Retoucher, Video Editor, and sometimes a Hair Stylist and a Wardrobe Stylist. Though I am mostly behind the camera, I do like to be a subject in front of it as well. I have never been to Film but maybe I will try acting one day? Doing that or pursuing my dream of becoming a pop star could possibly be my next move!
All that I create revolves around what I consider to be Beauty. I do not do anything that I am not passionate about, and what I do make is never finished until it is perfect in my eyes.

From the very beginning of my life, I have always loved drawing and painting but over the years, I started to focus more on other types of media, which is great but at the same time feels melancholic. I thought I had let a part of me go but actually I am drawing all the time just in different ways. With whatever it is, I draw my life to show what I consider most beautiful whether it is with a person or with the nature of this planet. What I hope people take from it is that there is beauty all around us, because we all have different perspectives and I think my eye definitely sees the beauty in more things than anyone else would ever see. Everything I create is made with Love and Ingenuity.
I retouch every photograph of mine. Even if it is just a simple retouch, I have the need to at least tune it to consider it fully my work of art, almost as if I am redrawing the image I captured. The same goes for when I am creating a film. My favorite part about video editing is the color grading. Creating a mood or feeling with just color is so satisfying to me and it also fees like I am giving back life to what I captured. As for makeup, it is relative to photo retouching to me, but more in-depth with the physical aspect. Whether it is full glam makeup, or “no makeup”, I love to transform the face by the use of different textures, highlighting, and contouring. Every face has its own beauty so it is very exciting for me to get to play with different canvas’s all the time. Again, this too feels very much like I am redrawing a face into what I want.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Do it, and do it now. Do it all with passion and love and the outcome will be greatness, in your own perfect way. If you are not the level you want to be on, do not compare yourself to others, your time will come with determination and drive. We all have different paths in life, and the road can change at any given moment. If you stay true to yourself, you shall attract love and positivity because that is what you are giving yourself by creating for yourself, and that is beauty.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I am a bit “old school” so my work is best viewed via my website/online portfolio www.josephadivari.com. With that said, you may also view more of my works on my social media accounts on Instagram. My main account handle is @josephadivari and my makeup account handle is @adivaribeauty. I am consistently being yelled at by friends and peers about needing to post more of my work on my socials, and I definitely agree, but I have a few reasons as to why I do not like to. I am really pushing myself to engage in social media more so if you decide to follow me you will most likely see that.
