Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Montanez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jose. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I always wanted a camera, especially after looking up to Andre Agassi and his tennis cannon commercials. With my daughter’s high school athletics, I realized it was a perfect time to get a camera. My support system started with my cousin Devon Byrd. He’s an experienced Paparazzi. Our conversations were detailed with all aspects of photography, camera equipment, angles, lighting, settings, etc. Also, my friend Jon SooHoo encouraged me to take courses at Sports Shooter academy. The academy opened a world of exposure to experienced people and quality information to help me jump start my photography business.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Photography has forced me to become computer savvy. I self-taught myself with all the necessary computer programs. Also, countless hours of researching and troubleshooting with different cameras for multiple settings. The experience has been good because it’s all part of the learning and growing process.
Please tell us about Jose Montanez Photography.
I enjoy sports photography. Each athlete works at perfecting their fundamentals and me capturing those moments of hard work and dedication are special. Once I present my photos to athletes, I see how much they appreciate them and it’s truly why I enjoy giving back to them.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Go to school to learn more about the computer side of the business.
