Meet Jonathan Smith of The Prince Of Passion in Inglewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Smith.

Jonathan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was asked at the age of five to be part of the Christmas program through the church. I didn’t know what I was getting my self into but at that moment was the first time I was on stage. I was shy but I knew I was there to sing and with passion. Ever since that day, I can’t remember my life without a mic. and loved to sing since.

I was asked to sing at the age of five at Christmas Program, shy I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into but I sung anyway. From that moment, I can’t remember my life without a mic.

My Mother and Father William & Monica Smith had a record label called Irie records at the time and the band called Caribbean Pulse would be rehearsing. I remember even going to sleep with the band playing and that was a blessing in disguise.

As I’ve matured, I have dabbled in the high fashion industry and collaborated with my ideas among my peers and but I still had burning desire to sing deep in my soul.

I prayed for a soul team to discover me because I knew I loved to sing. My prayers were answered and today I am so happy to have recorded my new project named ” Changes” with a Divine Team, two producers that go under the names Treyvon X and Khamal White. I’m so thankful today that I have this opportunity.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t think it was easy, not one bit. It’s more than just making music. It’s like you have to know and when you know you dedicate yourself in totality, that brought along allot of Changes for me. Allot of what was not for me got swept away, some relationships didn’t pend out like I thought it would support wise. I think you will often become misunderstood when you do whats for you. You can sometimes feel alone through the process but you never really are alone. That was very struggle when you accept whats for you and what’s not. I am just so grateful to God that he carried me on to creating this project “Changes,” through it all I really am. Sometimes my only way out was through singing and I feel really happy to do so.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I specialize in singing and known for my harmonies and to be a very passionate person. I am told that I express myself and for me, I just think passionate about what I do. So I am like that in music alike, I’m thankful to even have the thoughts to do so.

What were you like growing up?
I was the fashionable proper boy in school. No one could beat me in fashion in the sixth grade and I still think maybe till this moment. I am a very positive person when it comes to my outlook on life and I am also very caring for others. I love Old Hollywood and I do notice I do have a lot of similar interests as do those stars such as Elizabeth Taylor so old Hollywood was like always my personality and what I can relate too. I loved passion and saw that allot in Elizabeth Taylor and I just found a lot in me. I love passion its what I’m all about everything I do, I did it passionately.
