Meet Johnny Salas, Eddie Hernandez, James Carrillo, Leo Hyder & Jason Salas of Weaponized

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Salas, Eddie Hernandez, James Carrillo, Leo Hyder and Jason Salas.

Weaponized was formed in August of 2018 and played there first live show at Yuris Records in Southgate on October of 2018 with a nine songs setlist. The band members at that time included Leo Hyder (drums), James Carrillo (guitar), Johnny Salas (vocals), Jason Salas (bass), and Jon “Fro” Torres (guitar).

In February of 2019, due to creative differences Fro left Weaponized and soon after that Jason was moved from bass to guitar and Eddie “Iron” Hernandez was added to the line up on bass. Since June of 2019, Weaponized has played over 30 shows, recorded a five song Ep, has done numerous interviews and also shot a music video.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Weaponized has had some ups and downs as I’m sure most bands do. The biggest struggle was when we were looking for our new bass player. Being a new band it was really hard to find someone to join us plus we had some really strict guidelines to follow. Once we found the missing piece to our puzzle everything seems to be falling into place for us.

Weaponized – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Weaponized is a thrash/metal, thrash/punk band from the Los Angeles area. We specialize in making original music and we are known for our fast past controlled sound from the speed of our guitars, drums and bass to the speed of the lyrics coming from our vocalist. I’m not sure if this sets us apart from the rest but it’s definitely a trademark of ours. We are most proud of the response we get from the fans after a show and that’s what keeps us going, plus having a good friendship, dedication to each other and willingness to work together as a unit and not ego trip.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
As far as success we take it show by show just knowing that people who came to see us had a great time listening and watching us on stage we feel that’s a success for us. We are definitely looking to get to the big stage though to put our music out to as many people as we can.
