Meet Johnnie Urban of Wonderful Life Learning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnnie Urban.

Johnnie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was named after a girlfriend of my mother’s that had helped her in school. I feel blessed that that her helping energetic nature was transferred to me. My maiden name is McClelland, very Irish with luck running through my veins. BTW, I do not like green beer.

After 2 learning marriages I am now married to the man of my dreams, Michael, and I have a precious little Shitzpoo (yes, that’s a breed) dog name Shadow. And a Shitzu name Shuzy. I have 3 amazing, happy, productive adult children and 4 equally amazing grandchildren. One of which is a mini me.

I love to write Blogs and do public speaking that is designed to teach, inspire, and motivate about life and the Highly Sensitive Persons success. I am not a trained writer but have the desire to share ideas and learnings from my own past successes and what shows up daily. I promise you that no words are harmed but grammar and punctuation may take a hit. 😉

Even though I feel I’ve arrived at a wonderful place in life I still have an insane level of the need to learn, grow and contribute with love and connection to those that I am meant to serve.

Every day I say a prayer, “Please Lord set before me the people that need me and also the people that I need to learn from.” Sometimes both requests are answered in the same person.

This prayer came about from my quest, years ago, of learning how to receive from and how to contribute to those people who God knows will hear his message through me. It has been and continues to be a humbling and blessed gift.

In my self-awareness journey I have come to understand that I am intuitive and empathic by nature and am highly sensitive to sights, sounds, movements, and energies. Just in the last 2 years I have embraced my abilities as BEING who I am, realizing that it is not a hindrance but it is something that I’m supposed to BE to be able to help others. Acceptance and embracing this ability has also allowed me stop asking the questions, “Why am I different, and How come I don’t fit in?” And, “Isn’t everyone like this?”

I have come to understand that there are NOT very many of us on the planet that have these natural abilities, according to Dr. Elaine Aron, author of The Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), there are only about 15-20 % of the total population are HSP’s. We are coded to be the artists, teachers, mentors and royal advisors to those that need us.

In my quest to educate people, from all walks of life, I felt compelled to author a book, Stop the Madness, How the Highly Sensitive Person Can Thrive in a Chaotic World. This book has changed the perspective of not only HSP’s but also the people around them.

Today, I am passionate about helping all HSP’s in all walks of life especially those that are entrepreneurs. I am on a quest to create online programs that will allow HSP’s to have the thriving business of their dreams. Starting with being the Sensitive and Authentic Public Speaker so they can easily get clients.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been smooth and also bumpy.

I recognize that when things go smoothly it is because I am tapping into my natural abilities and traits of the HSP.

I allow myself to not be hard on me.

I recognize that when things don’t happen quickly and the way I want them to it is because I am pushing not allowing the natural flow.

My favorite question I ask myself is, “What is it about this issue that if I could change it would make all the difference in the world?”

I have learned to ask for help and stop thinking that I couldn’t trust anyone.

The biggest struggle I had as a life coach was all the in-human marketing necessary to get a client.

It felt yucky and inauthentic. When I discovered my HSP traits, September 2012, it opened up a whole new world for me and my clients.

I quickly learned that I did not have to do the same marketing system that other businesses had to do. Now I do a system that is much more respectful, nurturing and loving to me and my potential clients.

One of the aspects that makes my speaker training so unique for my students in that I teach process. This is just one, of many, powerful processes that are included in my course, Speeches that Convert.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Wonderful Life Learning story. Tell us more about the business.
Wonderful Life Learning Intl. was created in 2010 when I realized that I had been coaching and teaching for over five years without a business structure.

I have always been insanely curious about human behavior and, over the previous ten years had became Certified in NLP, Hypnotherapy, Strategic Intervention, Master Life & Business Success Coach, and a Christian counselor.

The ah-ha moment of creating a business came to me when clients kept asking for more help. It became critical that people needed the kind of support that only I could provide.

After writing about the challenges and solutions for Highly Sensitive People on social media and on my blog post in 2015 it became apparent that I needed to put all the research and resources in one place and became a published author.

I am proud to be considered an international authority on Highly Sensitive People. My book, “Stop The Madness, How the Highly Sensitive Person Can Thrive In the Chaotic World” has quickly become highly regarded in the self-help arena with healers, coaches, and therapists.

Since then I have become a guest speaker on numerous stages, and radio blogs and a workshop facilitator in helping Highly Sensitive people and entrepreneurs thrive and grow in our chaotic world.

Specializing in teaching heart-centered, sensitive entrepreneurs who struggle with growing their business. Using a simple system to help them speak authentically, so they easily get clients.

One of the aspects that makes my training so unique for my students in that I teach processes. I am known to be an artist and detective in human behavior. Being creative I can quickly come up with simple solutions to solve any client or students challenge.

For example.  I will guide a client or students through a closed eye visualization of stepping onto a stage with confidence and power. Another one is to eliminate fear or speech filler words.

These are just two, of many, powerful processes that are the essential part of my training.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe that luck is where talent, skill and preparation collide.

I guess the bad luck that had an impact on when I began my coaching business over 10 years ago. I realized that I could no longer physically do my career of being a hair stylist. Something I loved and was very good at.

Scoliosis is a family trait and it began to give me severe problems. Standing and bending over hair clients all day was too much and I had to give it up the day I was in so much pain I could not walk.

I had been coaching for about 4 years when that happened and created my company in 2010 when I realized that I had to make a change.

It was not easy starting a business being in extreme pain and having to do a lot of physical therapy for about 2 years. But I am so stubborn, in a good way, and passionate in helping people have wonderful lives that I just had to persevere.

Hence the name of my company is Wonderful Life Learning.
