Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey The TV Guy.
Joey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up as a kid in D.C.in the 1980s I’d watch tv shows and movies and dream of living in California and being in showbiz. 20 years later, I moved to Hollywood to pursue that dream. Now I’m the #1 old TV seller in LA, providing vintage TVs to major movie studios, tv shows, and independent artists.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Hollywood is a very competitive place for actors, musicians, and others who are looking to break into the business somehow. However, there are many opportunities to start a business that supports showbusiness. That is how I started the TV prophouse “Joey’s Tubes” specializing in retro tube TVs from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. It took some navigating through rough water at times, but eventually we found our niche and everything fell into place.
Joey’s Tubes – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Vintage tube TVs are becoming very popular but they are no longer being made which makes them increasingly rare and hard to find. Joey’s Tubes specializes in the sales and rental of vintage TVs in Los Angeles, California. We are proud to take obsolete technology that was tossed to the curb and rescue/repurpose it for creative pursuits and endeavors by some of the most talented people in the world today!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Last night “The Masked Singer” Aired the episode with “Mister TV” which was Wayne Brady dress’s up with a TV helmet/mask. We supplied the TV! We have worked with many large Hollywood productions and it’s always so fun to see our old TVs being used on the big screen!
