Meet Joe Todd, Kartik Gurmule and Terry McGinnis of Dropshyp in San Jose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Todd, Kartik Gurmule and Terry McGinnis.

Dropshyp provides SMEs and independent entrepreneurs with the ability to connect with suppliers in East Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. With Dropshyp, businesses can easily establish unseen and undiscovered business links with top tier manufacturers and suppliers, buy and ship directly to customers without holding stock, and discover trending worldwide products that they can sell and buy.

Before Dropshyp, two of our three Co-Founders, Terry McGinnis and Kartik Gurmule launched Rydable, an exclusive retailer of Samsung powered eSkateboards, eBikes, and eScooters. However, due to COVID-19, the brand couldn’t take off. We saw the opportunity optimistically and decided to start, majorly to help SMEs and small brands increase their visibility in the international markets. Our company Shoppable Inc. has a unique approach to online shopping because we value not only customers but also our suppliers.

Today, as you read this, Dropshyp is growing at the rate of 300-400% month over month majorly due to our offering – cheap rates for customers, low commission for sellers, and greater support for dropshippers. We are very glad to offer and help local businesses and brands increase their sales worldwide without having to worry about logistics.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Whatever Dropshyp is doing is a win-win for any time of the user. Whether you are a customer, affiliate, drop-shipper, or seller, Dropshyp has to offer something you can’t refuse. For customers, Dropshyp is providing them with an exclusive collection of cheap products. For affiliates, Dropshyp is providing a huge collection to market the products from. For drop-shippers, Dropshyp is providing with a selected list of suppliers which are trustworthy and verified to source the products from. For sellers, Dropshyp is providing them a platform to sell by paying us as little as 5% in commission as on July 2020 whereas our competitors charge 30+%.

In terms of challenges, the only challenge we faced is reaching out to suppliers. As easy as it sounds, we are constantly innovating and coming up with different strategies to approach suppliers. We started with a 5% onboarding rate, and currently, we are almost at an 80% onboarding rate.

Dropshyp – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Dropshyp as we describe is a one-stop-dropshop. We are a one-stop platform where wholesalers and suppliers connect with buyers, affiliates, and drop-shippers. With Dropshyp, entrepreneurs and local businesses can create their own website and sell products from our verified, trustworthy suppliers without holding stock. Others can start their own brand by partnering with the suppliers to source the products with white-label.

We use specialized algorithms and machine learning to provide the best to our users, which is the main reason behind our 100% organic growth. We are known for valuing our suppliers as well as customers personally; instead of just banning their profiles if they fail to achieve customer satisfaction rate, we work with them personally and help them figure the issue out.

We have several competitive advantages over our competitors – we have a uniquely recognizable brand with a great market presence, an innovative way to approach consumers and businesses to develop a community-centric approach to dropshipping and building of businesses, an established loyal customer base, supported via content-driven marketing, affiliate partnership, loyalty schemes, and a community.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We define success by having “time freedom” and also “giving back to the people” that helped us get to where we are today. Giving back to people less fortunate and mentoring a new entrepreneur to be better. Success is not something you can achieve overnight, or when you are a billionaire. It comes down to how many people’s lives have you improved or made easier than before. You would be remembered by how your business helped people instead of how much revenue you made as a company, it comes down to the values.
