Meet Joe Nazarian of Nazarian Law Firm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Nazarian.

Joe, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was in elementary school, I always remember wanting to be an attorney and then run for Congress one day. When the teachers went around the room and asked everyone about their dreams of being firemen, astronauts, and superheroes I knew I wanted to help bring Justice and help those in need.

My father grew up in the middle east and didn’t have a dad to help him when he was young. He was working since the age of seven years old. My dad worked hard for everything in life and immigrated here by himself at the age of 16 years old. While growing up, he had many injustices in his life due to his poverty and place in life. He never had anyone to assist or help him fight to get what he wanted.

My father is known for going out of his way to help those in need, and he could never afford to go to law school or take the route he dreamed of when he was young. My father inspired me to become an attorney so that I could help those less fortunate and make sure they get justice and have a voice in a world that typically favors the privileged. I have learned to work hard and give every client a chance thanks to him and the morals he passed down to me.

When I was a young buck, I was involved in seven car accidents myself. So I took part in many personal injury matters. I saw how the insurance companies take advantage of you and how some attorneys don’t fight for their clients as needed. You get treated as a number instead of a person.

Going through this process over and over-motivated me to change the process and help those who do not know how to help themselves. As soon as I could get my first internship, I made sure it was at a personal injury law firm, and I worked hard to learn how to work the process to help clients. I worked at four different law firms and learned the ins and outs of personal injury matters.

After I passed the bar, I knew I wanted to create a firm where the client comes first and are not treated as a number in the system! I wanted to help be the sword and shield for my clients against insurance companies and attorneys who would rob them of justice. I make sure my clients are treated with the same respect, whether their case is worth $1000 dollars or $1,000,000.

This is what has helped me to become so successful in my field. I am always available to my clients and many times I find myself as a therapist and then an attorney. I want to be there for my clients because I understand their pain and want to help them get through treacherous times.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Going out on your own is never an easy path, but the truth is that I wanted to create a different firm where my clients were treated as a human being instead of a paycheck. I give each client my cell phone and make myself available seven days a week because they have been through traumatic experiences and needed support from an attorney and a friend.

I have had to learn to compete with huge law firms that are paying hundreds of thousands a month to acquire clients, but my genuine respect for each client has gained me my success. I have also learned that because I am young, I still have so much to learn.

Thus I make sure to partner with the best attorneys in the state whenever is need to slam dunk a case for a client. I am not afraid to give up a large portion of my recovery if it means partnering with a firm that is specialized in their specific type of accident.

Attorneys need to stop looking at each other as competition and instead as compatriots in justice to help everyone get the justice they deserve. As an attorney, we are the embodiment of trust and justice to our clients. We need them to trust we will ALWAYS have their best interests in mind.

So yes the road might be difficult, but I have learned to wade through the difficult waters with the help of many firms and advocates of justice.

Nazarian Law Firm – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My law firm specializes in personal injury matters. Personal injury matters are situations where someone gets hurt by someone else or gets hurt on another person’s property. Personal injury matters involve man types of accidents.

First is vehicle accidents such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, bicycles, or recreational vehicles. We also specialize in premises liability cases such as slip and falls, getting hurt by a defective building, or problem the landowner has left unattended. The other types of cases are workplace injuries, medical injuries, and wrongful death cases.

What sets my firm apart from many others is that each client is treated as an individual and not a paycheck. I give each client the same amount of time and attention no matter how big or small the case. I am always available and walk each client through the whole process. One of the biggest issues with personal injury matters is fear due to lack of knowledge. I give my clients so much info it comes out of their ears. They never wonder what is happening with their case or what is going on.

I am known for being friends with my clients and creating personal relationships that go beyond attorney-client relationships. I try to infuse that idea with my team and tell them that each person is someone they should take time with, and never rush through the process no matter how big or small the case.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I was able to help a friend who went through a nightmare injury. My friend was injured so badly that his accident ended up leading to him becoming a paraplegic. This was a huge hit to my heart because he was one of my best friends on the planet.

As an attorney, you realize very quickly that you are NOT God and that money does not heal all wounds. All we can do as attorneys is trying to get our clients justice by compensating them as much as possible for their pain and suffering.

I was able to get my client some form of justice through good compensation, and it was enough to help him get in a stable place financially. The money will never be enough, but I was proud to simply assist any way I can.
