Meet Joanna Lewis of JoJo Swim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joanna Lewis.

Joanna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
At a young age, I decided that I wanted to live my life to my fullest potential of who God created me to be. I knew that if I wanted to be successful that I had to take my life seriously, and that no one was going to do anything for me. At age fourteen, I started independent studies and signed up to take classes at my local community college.

With a lot of dedication and hard work, I was able to graduate high school when I was sixteen. I have always had a lot of dreams & visions for my life But most importantly wanting to be an inspiration for my generation and to leave a legacy behind. I moved to Los Angeles, CA in June 2016 to attend makeup school at the Michael Vincent Academy.

As much as I loved becoming a professional makeup artist, it was only one of my many passions in life that I wanted to peruse. The acting and modeling world was something I had always wanted to get my feet wet in but I didn’t know how to start nor did I have any experience. Although, I will say that God has opened doors for me that no man could open.

I started Working with various casting directors and different boutique agencies getting booked four-five days a week having over 400 consecutive bookings/day player roles on set. I have learned sooo much in the past three years from so many talented amazing people, and I am so thankful for every opportunity that has been presented to me.

I think it’s important to Stay ready & be prepared for anything that life throws at you, know who you are and what you’re trying to accomplish, especially in this industry. What people don’t see is the persistence and sacrifice it takes to stay consistent in this business.

I am still in some of the beginning stages of my career & although I’m not exactly where I want to be yet, I am so proud of my self for all I have accomplished, and I am excited to see what my future holds.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My life has been a struggle, but in the midst of the storm, I’ve have been able to stay focused on my goals even when faced with difficult obstacles. I know that God has a plan for my life and that gives me confidence that I will be in the right place at the right time.

My personal growth is very important to me, I am a very self-disciplined individual and have a lot of determination for my life. I think it’s important to embrace who you are and who you want to become. What you do with your life is your choice.

Take chances and risk although you may fail and feel like quitting remember why you started. I don’t think anyone in life ever gets to a point where everything is perfect. Unfortunately, failure is apart of life, nothing comes easy.

It is important to learn, grow and reflect from the hardships and daily struggles that we all face. My struggles have forced me to become better & ultimately have shaped me into who I am. Be patient, Have faith, and you’ll end up exactly where you are supposed to be.

But in the meantime every day you have the chance to impact the people around you whether it’s smiling, or just being there for a person in need. It’s the little things that change history.

Tell us about your business/company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
This year has been super busy for me so far I have a lot of big upcoming projects that I can not disclose at the moment but they will be announced very soon. On the other note, I will be portraying Xael in a five-movie trilogy created and directed by Toni Morgan Haye, which I am super excited about. I also signed my first worldwide perpetuity contract with L’Oréal hair.

In March 2019, I launched my own swimsuit company called JoJo Swim which has been a success so far. I started this company from nothing but an idea that I had one day and to see it come to life has been an amazing experience. My goal was to provide affordable swimsuit sets for all shapes and sizes.

Within the first couple of weeks of launching, I started selling out of products and got a lot of good feedback from my customers. I want to thank everyone who has been supportive of my small business. I really do appreciate you.
