Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimira Lindo.
Jimira, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Lindo Sorrel started three years ago when I used to visit my neighborhood Jamaican restaurant (The Original Coley’s) and I will order an iced cup of sorrel (hibiscus drink) almost everyday. Sorrel drink is a dark red, a little sour, with a raspberry-like flavor; made from petal of sorrel plant. It’s known as hibiscus but known as Sorrel Drink throughout the Caribbean, Aqua de Jamaica in Latin America and Zobo in Africa. One day the restaurant owner of my favorite drink temporarily closed the restaurant.
From that time on, I craved sorrel (hibiscus) so I researched and consulted with Caribbean family on how to make the traditional hibiscus drink. Once I learned how to make the drink, I added my special twist to the taste of the drink. Then, my mother in law encouraged me to make the (sorrel) hibiscus drink for sale because it tasted so good. Thereafter, my pops and mother invested in a refrigerated storage space so I could store my bottles and gallon’s and I was on a roll after that. Once I became more familiar with the majestic and magical benefits of Sorrel (Hibiscus) I wanted to share the benefits with my entire Friends and family.
I started bottling up my drink in mason jars and selling this healthy refreshing drink to my yoga and dance class classmates. That’s when Lindo Sorrel became a hit. Lindo is my last name so I got a logo created and had labels made.
I was inspired by (Sorrel) Hibiscus drink to encourage my sister who suffers from Sickle Cell Anemia to drink (Hibiscus) because of the enomourous amount of health benefits. (Sorrel) Hibiscus is rich in vitamin c which builds the immunity and an 8 fluid ounce serving delivers 20 milligrams of iron and helps maintain red blood cells.
Lindo Sorrel is now is the drink of choice in my home. My husband and three boys substitute Juice for Lindo Sorrel (Hibiscus) as a healthier choice. With being an athletic family (Lindo Sorrel) Hibiscus quenches our thirsts. Researchers found that hibiscus satiates athlete’s thirst.
With a long list of other health benefits like: Rich and potent in antioxidants, rich in vitamin c, anti-inflammatory properties, nervous system support, anti-bacterial, anti-viral properties and great source of iron.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles that come up is balancing being a mother of three, wife and being a full-time Therapist. Sometimes the struggle is real… no sleep filling orders, making the product and sending off orders. However, with the passion and dedication to the product everything gets taking care of.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is dancing for my family and friends. I was known as the dancer to perform at every family function. One day I was dancing in the church hallway while a crowd of kids circled around me. I believe I was doing a Michael Jackson dance and the Pastor of the church walked up and caught me dancing. I thought I was going to get in trouble but the Pastor was impressed with my MJ dancing skills and he asked me to dance for the entire. He had the church band play music and I stood on the stage and danced in front of the entire church.
