Meet Jessica Williams of Fashionpreneur Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Williams.

Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my career in fashion at the age of 14. I focused on custom sewing and design for about six years. I then transitioned into ready to wear fashion. I launched my first collection in 2013 during NYFW. My brand, Irregular Exposure began to receive a lot of great media which allowed us to convert sales and grow the brand even further.

I had a brick and mortar in my hometown of Baltimore, MD for two years. In April 2016, I launched the Fashionpreneur Academy, an online coaching program for emerging and aspiring fashion based business owners. In December 2018, I decided to relocate our offices in Los Angeles. In only two months, we have opened our showroom and factory in the heart of the Fashion District!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This road has never been smooth! The pavement has been full of lessons and sacrifice. I took my biggest leap of faith when I closed my Baltimore location to relocate to LA. I needed to leave my current level behind to reach my higher level.

When I made that move, God began to bless me abundantly. I have been able to hire three more full-time employees within just 60 days. God said more, and I met him where he was! You have to be willing to grow in order to claim what is yours.

Another huge challenge for me was losing my Dad unexpectedly in 2011. I slipped into a depression when he passed and lost the passion. I was reminded of the passion when I created my first collection to show within fashion week.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fashionpreneur Academy – what should we know?
I am a Fashion Designer & CEO at Irregular Exposure. Our women’s wear brand has grown to reach new heights with the help of marketing and social media.

I am also the CEO at The Fashionpreneur Academy, an online Fashion Business coaching program. I am also the founder and CEO of The Fashionpreneur Agency, an apparel development factory based in LA.

I am most proud of my Academy because it has created a platform for people to live within their purpose. Over 80% of my clients have transitioned into full Fashionpreneurship! This means they are living in their God-given purpose! We are growing!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My entire family deserves the credit! My Mother is the reason I am who I am today. At age 14, she placed me in a youth entrepreneurship program with the NAACP.

This program taught me the blueprint for building at a young age. She also invested in sewing classes for me and purchased my LLC for my 16th birthday! Because of her investments, I am able to live my dreams!

I also have to thank my siblings and mentors Raevyn Jones & Tiffany Walker! I have a tribe behind me, and I am grateful.
