Meet Jessica Medeiros of Make your Mark Spokesmodels in Koreatown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Medeiros.

Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was involved in DECA in high school and college. It is a marketing/management organization with students travel and complete in marketing competitions. Last year I was involved the theme was “make your mark!” So it stuck 🙂 I was also worked MH at the Tampa international airport and I was going to get a water for myself and I noticed a gentleman sitting and working on his laptop for hours, so I brought one to him as well. He was overwhelmed with surprise he smiled and a cookie hours later he handed me his business card and informed me he was doing a trade show in the Tampa area in a few months, so if I researched his company and was interested, he would love my hospitality at his booth. A few months and a lot of research later, I worked my first event with Mr. Ed Coleman of AGAME Global. I decided I was going to move to LA and start a company. I have always worked in hospitality as well, so a marketing/management staffing agency that also specializes in hospitality was right up my alley. I packed my bags, headed west and within the first week of being here I was interviewing women for a spokesmodel position who have done some really great work and been involved with major brands and projects. We’ve since grown and added males as well, a few people from that very first interview still work with us as well as have become lifelong friends.

I was voted ‘most helpful’ in the fifth grade, so I started a business helping my people. 🙂

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to mark-making isn’t the easiest. We struggled with not knowing a sole when I first moved here so I waited tables at bottega louie for the first couple years, making tips and putting them in the bank so I could pay my staff before I was paid. It’s also a struggle to increase prices when you’ve had the same clients for years. The scheduling can be intense as well, as our staffs are actors and models as well, so when auditions come up, we are moving people and filling in the puzzle daily.

Please tell us about Make your Mark Spokesmodels.
We are all about being of service. We love to help people. A lot of my friends are entrepreneurs so I love hearing their ideas and helping them market them and grow their client base. Whether we are giving someone a glass of water, tray passing an endive with goat cheese and pecans with a fig drizzle, or discussing the wietht to horsepower ratio of a MINI Cooper, our staff does all things as a team, with empathy, passion, trust, and respect.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
Every traffic jam, phone call, interview, staff romance, spilled tray, tip, a glass of water, team huddle, smile, unpaid invoice, check signed, staff thank you note, missed flight, parking ticket, hours serving in heels, survey filled out, lead capture. Brand training, promo executed any and everything both good and bad has put us exactly where we are supposed to be and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
