Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Lombardozzi and Viktor Ahlgren.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Coming from two different parts of the world, USA and Sweden, “Jessica and Viktor” met at a small university in Palos Verdes, CA in a music business class. After a few collaborations, we decided to start a project together (LACEI). Now, three years later, we have created “something” that has become our individual identities, our passion, and our life. Our spirituality, beliefs, and values, have shaped our messages into questioning society and this world in which we call “reality.” We try to break barriers, not only through music, but through life. To us, the music serves as the vehicle raising questions, and arguments about humanity and our existence.
Please tell us about your art.
We are a Swedish-American alternative-indietronica band (LACEI), based out of Los Angeles, CA. Jessica ‘Jessielace’ Lombardozzi is the singer, songwriter, and keyboardist, and Viktor ‘Vik Mikael’ Ahlgren is the producer, songwriter, and guitarist. LACEI’s autobiographical and vulnerable lyrics express us as part rebels and part escapists; a persona that shapes a fierce onstage experience.
We have many upcoming releases for 2018 and are so excited to share them! They make arguments against politics, the food industry, pharmaceutical companies, economics, etc. The two of us are very critical of certain aspects of society which has become very blatant in our new music. We hope it will influence listeners to question “the norm” and what “reality” is.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
Exposure! It’s easy to post content for the world to see, yet the world rarely sees it because there are so many people doing it. Media platforms are overwhelmed with content making it difficult to attract attention and gain momentum. Artists are just another number in the grand matrix we call “the media.” How can one truly stand out? How can one gain actual “real” followers without having to “buy” them? How can one truly make a significant difference?
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
We’re performing at The Mint in Hollywood on June 1st and at the Armstrong Theater on June 23rd during the South Bay Festival of the Arts.
