Meet Jessica Carrasco of The Wax Queen in Rosemead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Carrasco.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As far back as I can remember, I was always in love with the beauty industry. As a kid I would play with my mom’s broken eye shadows and half used lipsticks. Put hot rollers on my dolls hair and gaze at every fashion magazine I would come across. In high school I started cosmetology school and I realized very quickly it wasn’t for me. I couldn’t stand coming home with prickly pieces of hair on my body. Soon after high school I went to Makeup Designory in Burbank. I loved learning what makeup could do to enhance your facial features. But more so than make up was Eyebrows. Eyebrows, that became my passion!! I loved how well-groomed Eyebrows could change your look. Give you an instant eye lift. Wake up your entire face. After becoming a licensed Esthetician I worked at different spas and salons. Although I began as a Brow specialist my clients started to ask about the ever so popular Brazilian wax. So I dove right in!! A good Esthetician can gauge their client. And a good Esthetician I am! I knew if my client wanted to talk during their service to take their mind off of the pain or if they wanted to focus on breathing and be silent. Soon my clients began referring to me as The Wax Queen because of my swiftness, technique and ability to make a naked stranger comfortable during a Brazilian wax! The Wax Queen storefront opened in 2010 and has continued to grow ever since with a waiting list of up to 2 weeks!!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nowadays there are waxing salons popping up on every corner. Some offering free waxes to clients, to our clients!! But they remain loyal to us and we continue to stay on top because of our business integrity, 5 star reviews, and close bond with our clients. Not to mention our Boudoir style studio makes you feel so sexy you wouldn’t want to go anywhere else!

The Wax Queen – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Wax Queen staff specializes in the Brazilian wax. The Estheticians are quick (about 10 minutes!) and highly trained. We promise the service you receive with us will be the best one you ever had! We are a family and treat our clients the same way. They love to come and catch up with us every month. The Wax Queen Studio decor was created to make you feel at home and every one that comes in agrees!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Growth – In the beginning it was just me a handful of clients and a small studio. In January The Wax Queen celebrated its 7th year anniversary!!! Now in a larger building with more rooms and thousands of clients.

Loyalty-I’ve had clients that have followed me from place to place, city to city. No matter how far from their home they would show up to their appointment faithfully every month. Rarely a client would have to go somewhere else and they would tell me “I’m sorry Jess I cheated on you, and I’ll never do it again” next thing I know they referred me a friend.
