Meet Jennifer and Krystal Tini of My Soul Mat in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer and Krystal Tini.

Jennifer and Krystal, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Before we can send love out into the world, we must first send it to ourselves. Self-love is one of the hardest things to truly accomplish- the struggle is real! But it doesn’t have to be…

Now up until this point in our lives, we’ve found that using positive affirmations, especially during meditation, has been extremely beneficial! We’ve literally manifested amazing circumstances in our lives by using them, repeating them. There were times when neither of us knew what job was next or how we were going to come up with following month’s rent or if moving across the country was a good idea (true stories)! “I am the creator of my Universe”, “I am prosperous in everything I do” or “I see with love. I think with love. I live as love. I am love.” They all helped us both so much.

And of course the answer doesn’t come right away. Trusting that everything happens on Divine time and letting The Universe work its magic was something we had to learn the hard way. But spirituality is about growing. When we learn and experience things for ourselves, we grow.

My sister and I created My Soul Mat because a lot of times, we would get lost in our yoga classes. For me, I thought yoga would be a source of instant inspiration. I was wrong. It was hard to keep my mental hands from meddling in the previous days worries or the future’s “what if’s”. I didn’t have anything to focus on during my Vinyasa poses- white walls, sweaty classmates, blank mat.

Getting rid of the mental clutter was one of the biggest problems we both faced, especially in such a practice that has brought spirituality and healing to the masses! If we just had something inspiring to focus on, it would be much easier to accomplish quieting the mind.

Inspiration, to us, is when something moves you and stays with you. Our creation is more than a mat you roll out for an hour. It’s a feeling you carry with you from our vivid images. It’s knowing the mantras, repeated throughout the day, will lift your vibration, and it truly does! One thing we’ve learned on our spiritual journey is that turning a negative thought into a positive one calms you instantly. This is when your love for yourself becomes greater than your desire to, for example, flip off the driver that just cut you off in traffic. Learning to love ourselves helps dissolve the instant anger propelled by another’s actions. In truth, it dissolves the ego.

This is My Soul Mats true mission: to learn to love the expression of who we are. By combining magnificent colors, images and most importantly, positive affirmations (we hope) brings you inspiration that resonates with your soul.

The world definitely needs more positivity.  So glad to see My Soul Mat thriving.  Has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think there is anything smooth about starting a new business! It is in the struggles where we learn. I am a firm believer in that.

One of the struggles we faced came from the physical mat. We wanted the best quality at an affordable price that was also vegan and “green”. Did they even exist? We had no idea! So we sifted through sample after sample and soon thought we would never find the right one. Some people would have given up or given in! In all honesty, I was about to but my sister and business partner, Krystal, kept at it. She constantly researched new companies and found a mat made from recycled materials that holds a firm grip when wet (instead of slipping and sliding from all that sweat) and, the best part of all, they could be printed using water-based, toxic free ink! Yes! It was her persistence and determination that allowed My Soul Mat to become the exact company we envisioned – eco-friendly yoga mats with vivid imagery and positive affirmations, bringing a whole new, uplifting experience to our fellow yogis!

My Soul Mat – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My Soul Mat is an eco-conscious, artistic yoga mat brand. Built on a dream to bring art and positivity to every practice, our mats are both unique and environmentally friendly. Each one tells it’s own story and is designed with passion for the lover of yoga, fitness, and meditation.

My Soul Mat is the perfect solution for anyone that loves to sweat: the more you sweat, the better the grip due to our ultra absorbent vegan suede top. It is basically a yoga mat and towel in one!

Another favorite aspect of these unique mats are the designs! Each mat allows every person to express themselves. The vibrant colors and powerful images speak to the soul and aim to lift your vibration, while the carefully selected affirmations enhance your yoga, fitness or mediation practice.

Krystal and I are most proud of the fact that we bring the power of positivity to individuals everywhere! This was one of our main goals – how can we help people stay inspired throughout their hectic lives and the hustle and bustle of each day even AFTER their practice? The feedback we get is mainly about the mantras. They stay with people throughout the day and help keep people focused on the positive things in life! For example, our “Grateful” mat states “I am grateful”. We leave our customers to fill in the blank as to what they are grateful for, but it is the constant reminder that gratitude is very important in life and WILL lift you out of a negative mindset.

Something we love that we’ve heard at least a dozen times is that people are actually hanging these or laying out the mats IN their offices! It doesn’t get more inspirational than that!

For these reasons, My Soul Mat is a totally different yoga mat company and experience than all others. No one has yet to combine meaningful affirmations and powerful imagery onto their products! Namaste.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The interest from yoga studios, yoga festivals, sponsorships, etc. is quite flattering. However, it is in giving that we receive. For us, one of the proudest moments is that we were able to sponsor a school for underprivileged and disabled children here in Los Angeles by providing mats for in-school and after school yoga classes. We think it is amazing to introduce yoga to children at a young age to realize there are alternative ways in dealing with our feelings. What a wonderful world it would be!

  • Yoga mats start at $92 and go up to $98
  • Our newest product are our on-the-go Manifesting Mantra Pouches for $22
