Meet Jennifer Salinas of Mosaic PR in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Salinas.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in the entertainment business at a young age. When I was 13, I started modeling and acting in commercials. By the time I was 18, I graduated to theater and film. I was hooked. I took every acting class available. When I came to LA, among many others, I was booked as one of the leads in an indie film called Students Like Us. It was a Chicano film that told the true story of Latinos earning a higher education. Right before production, one of the exec producers and writers noticed that I was watching everything like a hawk. She asked me if I’d like to learn how to produce. I, of course, said yes and reported to work that next Monday morning.

It was then I realized that my calling was to be behind the camera. It was such a great experience. I was able to assist with every detail. No decision was made without my opinion. I started to feel like my dreams were coming true. I continued to work as an actress. Both theatrically and commercially for a few years. It wasn’t until my theatrical agent at the time (Tad Hamilton), left the agency I was with and became a publicist that I was able to step back behind the scenes. We had become friends over the years (I made him a lot of money) and he asked if I could help out every now and then. Being a friend, I obliged. I LOVED IT! I’m a natural caretaker and there was something about nurturing someone’s career and assisting them with making their dreams come true. It’s like a drug! He wasn’t happy at the company he was with, so we decided to be a team and open our company. He taught me the ropes and we have never looked back!

Tad and I opened our company Mosaic PR in 2008. At that time, we only represented celebrities. Now, we also represent Films, TV Shows, Musicians, Brands, and also produce red carpet events in LA & NY. In 2020, we are a highly sought after company. 99 percent of our business comes through word of mouth. The results of our clients speak for themselves. I guess you could say they are now doing our PR.

Has it been a smooth road?
Working in PR is never a smooth road. But that’s the fun of it. If it were smooth, anyone could do it. This job is not made for everyone. I’m up for any challenge. I’d have to say the biggest struggle we have is getting the press as excited as we are about diversity. Our world is made up of so many different people and cultures, sexualities, and abilities. So many different walks of life. Everyone adds to the color of life. REPRESENTATION MATTERS. I hear people saying it, but not showing it. I’m looking forward to that change.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mosaic PR – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.

In addition to press, we seek out red carpet media events, charity partnerships, and other avenues. We also provide image counsel and media training. We work very closely with the Studios, Networks, and production companies to ensure the best press opportunities are provided for each client relative to the projects they are working on. We also listen to our clients and understand their needs outside of their Film/TV work. We are instrumental in helping pair clients with specific charities, expand and capitalize on their other interests (be it art, writing, directing, comedy) and offer our services to assist in these endeavors. We strive to create an environment where our clients can come to us with any request, no matter how big or small, and we will do our best to help facilitate. We also make it a priority for any event where the press will be involved (photo-shoots, tapings, red carpet, appearance, etc.) that a member of our highly trained staff will be on-site with the client to assist in any way we can as well as make sure to maximize the clients’ overall experience and press exposure.

Mosaic PR has been a long-time supporter of the Disability and the LBGTQI communities with many of our clients being a part of those communities. Years of experience in this area of specialty have seen a huge growth in the media finally opening up to inclusion but we still have a long road ahead of us. One of our most proud moments is when we were able to create an opportunity where 2 of our clients, who were starring on the Emmy winning A&E Docuseries “Born This Way,” where the first-ever presenters at an Emmy telecast with Down syndrome.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Obviously, traffic is the biggest pain in the neck. But I’m in love with the way the city lends itself to making dreams true. It’s the city of dreams. I’ve also met some amazing people here and I consider them family. LA has allowed me to make a home here and I am grateful.
