Meet Jennifer Franklin of Bloom Holistic Healing in The San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Franklin.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After experiencing tremendous loss in my family. I was crippled by anxiety. I lost my brother, my favorite aunt, and my nephew all within less than one year. The loss of my nephew really was the hardest thing I ever experienced. He was hit by a car while walking home from school with his siblings and it was all over the news. I felt completely lost and wanted to find a way to relax and find strength during this tough time. One day I saw a promotional add on Instagram about a Sound Bath Class. (Something I never heard of before) The benefits included decreased anxiety and depression. When I saw that I signed up immediately. I was nervous when I got there and was thinking to myself, “What did I get myself into?”

After my first class, I kid you not, I felt so relaxed, present, and happy. I was literally floating through the entire week following the Sound Bath. Things that typically would bother me didn’t. I didn’t feel any anxiety and my mind was not racing with any thoughts at all. I was in the moment and had so much clarity, peace, and focus.

I realized that Sound Bath meditation was something that I wanted to keep as a practice. So, I kept going. When my friend Shanila went through the training and started conducting Sound Bath’s I got excited and wanted to train and do it as well. I wanted to educate others on the benefits. So many people are going through life with a lot of stress and anxiety. I wanted to share something to the world that helped me heal so others can also heal.

After finishing up my training Ana Netanel in Brentwood and doing a lot of inner work which included lots breathwork, reading, journaling, and of course Sound Bath, I invested in my instruments and started. I named my business Bloom. The name spoke to me because I felt like was blooming. I was happier than I had ever been, and I felt like I was living in my purpose. I wanted to encourage others to Bloom as well. Now Bloom has already evolved, and it’s now called Bloom Holistic Healing. The goal is to empower communities with a holistic approach to wellness. It’s really all about doing the inner work, believing in yourself, and knowing that you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The hardest part to me was the preparation to launch. I was worried about what people would think because many people did not understand my work. Being an African American woman from a Christian upbringing in inner-city Los Angeles; Sound Bath is pretty much unheard of. Many people were skeptical of my business because they did not understand. So, I had to face my fears of being judged and not being supported by some people I loved. My mom, Joyce was one of my biggest supporters. She did not fully understand, but she believed that my intentions were all good. I learned how to create my website watching YouTube videos and googled anything needed to learn. Once I started, there was no turning back. I am still learning everyday and so far so good!

Please tell us about Bloom Holistic Healing.
Bloom Holistic Healing is known for Sound Baths and Breathwork classes. A Sound Bath allows your body to be submerged in sound. Many different instruments such as Crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, drums, gongs, and so on help to create sound waves; which have many natural healing effects in the body. Sound Baths goes as far back to the times of ancient Greek philosophers who used frequencies as medicine. The different sounds help calm the nervous system and align the seven chakras (also known as the endocrine system). Breathwork is a breathing technique to help release stale energy that is trapped in the body. That energy takes form as physical pain and emotional traumas that have not yet been released. By oxidizing the body, it makes the ph levels in the body more alkaline which naturally fights off illness and improves overall health.

Breathwork and Sound Bath are truly transformational classes. Many people have said that the two are more powerful than any therapy they have ever taken. In Western society, we are used to taking pharmaceutical drugs to masks the real problems. Bloom Holistic Healing addresses the problems from the inside out. Essentially, Bloom is taking Eastern Medicine to help address the Mental and Physical problems occurring here in Los Angeles.

Classes are offered in studios, at events, retreats, schools, and corporate companies. Private parties and individualized sessions are offered as well. Bloom wants to reach populations that are unfamiliar to Holistic Wellness. Recently, Bloom attended a training to learn how to get funding to provide free classes to at-risk youth, low-income communities, people battling addictions, veterans, and children with Autism. Everyone should have equal access to Holistic Wellness. Not everyone has the money for classes and those typically are the people who benefit the most. This is what sets Bloom apart from other business. It’s a spiritual experience when you learn to heal naturally. We must normalize Sound Bath, Breathwork, crystals, meditation, movement, and so on. This is how we can change humanity.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would not change anything about my journey. I believe all the pain I’ve experienced has help me become who I am today. I am stronger and wiser. My challenges have only forced me to grow and evolve.
