Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Michele.
Jenna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always wanted to be an artist. When I was four, I was a professional “colorist” since I could not draw. I spent most of my childhood coloring giant velvet pictures (which soon turned into painting) and starring at the sky. When I was nine, I got my first Polaroid camera and that was it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would be lying if I said it has been smooth sailing. I wanted to quit a few times because I was feeling taken advantage of and under-appreciated. The longest break I took was four months at the end of 2019 and early 2020. When I came back, I felt soo blessed getting two magazine covers and four other publications!
PhotoJenic Artistree – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I think the thing that sets me apart from other photographers is that I do not believe in photoshopping the skin to look “flawless.” I believe that out wrinkles, freckles, stretch marks and scars tell our story. I like to celebrate our SKIN! I do not believe in conforming to the societal standards of what is beautiful and it is important to me that each of my clients feel beautiful in their skin.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Honestly, just the fact that I still enjoy photography 20 years later is what I am most proud of.
