Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Jackson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jenna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My husband and I were living in San Francisco where I was working in merchandising at the Gap. We always dreamed of taking a year off and traveling around the world before we had kids so for years we saved up a special bank account to do it. After 5 or so years we had enough to make it work and I was also consulting for an e-commerce company so we DID IT!
On that trip we were inspired by local craftsmanship, the versatility required of bags for a trip like ours and was moved to give back. When we got back to LA we launched a line of beautiful, locally made bags that has a one-for-one component with Operation School Bell, which gives backpacks to kids in need here in LA for every bag sold.
Has it been a smooth road?
Ha! Has any startup been a smooth road? If so, give them my number! We originally were produced in LA before the factory flooded. We’ve worked through a myriad of factories in LA before landing where we are now. Learning e-commerce, website building, digital marketing, etc has been a big challenge and mentally inspiring… I mean, I can go on and on.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a luxury handbag business. We source leathers from Italy, Brazil and California and work with a woman-owned and operated a factory in downtown LA. We support local jobs by producing here in LA and we have a one-for-one with Operation School Bell. OSB helps underserved youth in the LA area by providing clothing, backpacks and toiletries for children. For every bag sold we donate a backpack to a student in need.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
YES! We have so many local stores, manufacturers, factories, suppliers and people that support us here. There’s been this incredible design and fashion boom here while we’ve been building and we are inspired by walking down any street in LA.
