Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Boisvert.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jean. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Stock Circles was founded our of frustration of not being able to participate in the opportunities that the stock market provide. Living on the West Coast, the market opens so early that you either are getting ready to go to work, in your car going to work. Once at work, you go to meetings and have little time to follow the market.
The second frustration we had was that the tools offered to trade were requiring a lot of specialized knowledge. Most tools in this space being designed for professional traders, we saw an opportunity to simplify stock investing by inventing a tool for the 99%.
While investigating how best to accomplish our goal, we realized that the ups and downs of the market were really the expression of trader’s collective emotions about specific stocks. And, since traders tweet about stocks all the time, we set forth the hypothesis that we can use traders’ sentiment found on social media to make money on the stock market.
Since nothing of this nature existed at the time, we started building the infrastructure needed to test the hypothesis that stock sentiment analysis and trading would outperform the S&P.
We started testing in 2016. By the end of 2016 we now knew that we had something special. Our model strategy were far beyond what anyone could have expected. And, as a bonus, we had built a complete trading platform that simplifies stock investing down to a few easy steps.
Smart Auto-Trading was born.
Smart Auto-Trading is an automated trading application that uses Artificial Intelligence concepts to screen, monitor and trade stocks. It uses social media and market data to ‘Trade on the News’. It simplifies stock investing down to a few easy steps.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working on an exciting project like Smart Auto-Trading is a labor of love. What motivates us is the mission and the vision to challenge existing finance bias and provide material improvements over traditional trading methods. And, if we really want to be honest here, to finally be able to partake in the financial benefits that the stock market provides for ourselves and for thousands of users.
Is it easy to build a startup from scratch? Anyone who works in a startup that invents new ways to do things will tell you that you have to be a big risk taker to undergo such an endeavor.
For starters, nothing exists but you and your idea when you start investing in a startup. You have to invent and build everything.
From a financial perspective, it is like having a baby. It requires constant investments so it can grow. You sometimes have to be pretty creative to get things done.
And last but not least, there are the naysayers. The people you need to convince along the way that have very little imagination and the ones who are waiting on the sidelines to see if you will succeed instead of helping.
During that time we all made a lot of sacrifices. Most of us had day jobs and needed to work evenings and on weekends. We had to be creative on many fronts from funding to choosing the right tools and partners.
We had to train our AI over a period of 3 years to make it accurate and bias-free.
Please tell us about Stock Circles.
Stock Circles hope that it’s Artificial Intelligence trading platform will help thousands of people and communities take advantage of the stock market.
In 2018, we will be starting to grow our managed accounts and scale our retail offering. Investors interested in AI investing will be offered a monthly subscription fee based on the amount invested.
We will be providing access to investors who have $25K to invest to start.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
When I was a child, I remember spending countless hours inventing stories, playing with legos, GI Joe’s and other toys to create fantastic universes with my best friend.
Going into adolescence this creativity translated into drawing crazy stories to the delight of my high school friends.
In college, I really enjoyed learning about Computers and Graphic Design. This passion for creating eventually led to Silicon Valley where I experienced the startup life first hand.
