Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Dizon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jay. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started as a background actor then made friends with the people behind the camera and I wanted to know all aspects of a film, I was very interested in learning all of it. Then worked my way up to 1st ADing in the commercial world. Then, I was an Art Director over at Disney for their social content and now, I am directing my own projects after being in almost every department (camera, art, G&E) at some point in my career.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t have any proper education in film and no real contacts in that world before so it was a struggle to get any jobs I could get and sticking my foot in the door
Please tell us about Fox Rye Films.
I’m a freelancer and I specialize in art which is why I’m known for making it look good or interesting. I have a strong art background and have always been artistic so it’s given me the edge when in the past being in art department if the client needed the most obscure thing made I have always been able to make it/draw it/create it and it has carried over into my current directing having an artistic background being creative on making lower budgets work well.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Not at all, I’m completely proud of where I am and where I am headed.
