Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Beatz.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jay. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I officially started beat making in November of 2018, I guess I would say what has helped me to get to this point was that I stayed consistent with my craft…always wanting to improve and make better quality music for the artists that choose to work with me, as well as always being able to evolve and adapt to the fast-paced and always changing needs of the business.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This by far has been one of the hardest journeys I’ve ever been on, I can remember one part in particularly when I was at my lowest…. this was around July this year…. I had just recently become homeless and had to shower at a 24 hr fitness and sleep in there parking lot before and after work…I would sit in my car and make beats when I couldn’t sleep and on the weekends I would go to a late-night gaming cafe, and continue my #beatmaking there.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Well, what I’d like to think I’m known for is making great music hahahaha! I specialize in making custom music for independent artists and singers.
I’ve worked with artists both local and international.
I would say what I’m proud of the most about my business is that it’s all me, I can finally show someone who I am without having to talk about myself I can just let them hear my music and that would be the best way to explain who I am, if that makes any sense. I’m not afraid to do this alone, at the end of the day it’s going to be my hard work that’s going to bring me success or failure.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Yes, I have a few KEY people that currently play an active role in my life, first off I’d like to mention my boy IG name @westlyfe_
He has been around since I started producing and has always answered any questions I might have had about learning certain aspects of the business, he is always willing to share the knowledge he has attained through his own journey.
Next is my friend and mentor @musicismylife_Blakkmoses he also is a very experienced producer and shows me better ways of producing as well as techniques used in certain processes I would say both him and @westlyfe_ are the two main reasons why I am where I am today.
