Meet Jason Fletcher of Jason Fletcher Studio in Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Fletcher.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jason. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Having left a career in finance in London at 22 years old I came to LA with not much of a clue about what I would do once I got here. A friend got me a job helping out his company installing Venetian Plaster, faux finishes, murals, etc. I loved the physical creativity that this job required and also seeing the homes of the rich and famous was a thrill for me. Taking what I had learned, the good and the bad, from my previous employer, the time eventually came to venture out on my own and that is when Jason Fletcher Studio was born.

We take the utmost pride in every job and like to think that we are among the best at what we do in LA. We will take on any scale of projects, large or small, near or far. From a concrete look fireplace in a Bel Air mansion to applying highly polished Venetian plaster to the walls of a New York City penthouse to a 40ft high interior walls of a luxury hotel lobby.

My absolute favourite projects are the ones that require thinking outside the box, either creatively or logistically. Using different materials to achieve the unusual requests we get from designers, architects and increasingly the well informed homeowners that are our clients.

I feel very fortunate as I haven’t found anything else that I’m remotely good at and absolutely love what I do.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with any small businesses, we struggle with the ever-increasing cost of insurance, taxes, increased labor wages, and getting paid in a timely manner.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jason Fletcher Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in Venetian plaster and interior and exterior wall finishes. We also do gold leafing, faux finishing, murals, wood staining, furniture finishing and interior & exterior painting. We are most proud of our adaptability in an ever-changing creative landscape.

I think what sets us apart is our ability to think outside the box, both creatively and logistically, to meet our clients’ high expectations, and always staying within budget and completing on time.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m a big believer in karma and I firmly believe we create our own luck.
