Meet Jared and Andrew DePolo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared and Andrew DePolo.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jared and Andrew. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
We have always been involved in music, but we weren’t fully awakened to our gift until we were 19. Our mom is a professional artist and met an Indy filmmaker at one of her shows who needed music for his short which just wrapped in Italy. We did the project pro bono and said, Let’s give it a go! He loved what we did and little did we know what other projects he had in the pipeline; thus the journey began. Shortly after, we did an advertising campaign and a documentary narrated by Danny Glover which premiered at the United Nations in NYC. Fast forward ten years and we have since worked with 16X Grammy-winning producer Thom Russo, written cues for our hometown Cleveland Browns, composed an original piece played by the Ohio Philharmonic Orchestra, scored a nationally touring Irish Dance show and just finished an advertising campaign for Mickeys 90th anniversary!

Has it been a smooth road?
The hardest obstacle is staying true to yourself in an otherwise oversaturated and highly competitive market, where individuality and uniqueness tend to be overshadowed by; what’s trending? What’s selling? What’s most popular? There’s always a pull to stray away from who you are as an artist and compare yourself to others. It’s so vital to stay true to who you are! The mere fact that we are all incredibly unique is our greatest strength.

What Sets You Apart?
Being a twin! There aren’t many identical twin composers in the world. It’s amazing being able to compose together where we can both instantly connect in perfect harmony to the heart of the piece. We always tell people that we have so much passion that it wouldn’t be possible to fit all of it in one person! It gets us pumped thinking about picking up our batons to conduct the orchestra together!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We love that it’s a city filled with so much creativity and drive to pursue the calling placed within everyone’s heart. The obvious dislike is traffic, but that’s a given! How about this… we dislike the fact that there are so many insanely good food options that it’s almost impossible to choose one every single night!

The best advice we got when we moved here was to make it our home; enjoy the city, play tennis, find new places to eat – this is where you build organic and authentic relationships. It’s this “hands off” approach that helps build balance, which is incredibly important and often overlooked in this city which is all about “the grind.”
