Thanks for sharing your story with us January. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Thank you! Starting from the beginning would make for a long interview! I grew up in Laguna Beach and I’m a SoCal girl through and through. We used to spend countless hours having ‘unprotected sun’ trying to get as tanned as possible because we thought it was attractive! At one point, white splotches started to develop on my face which was a huge contrast to my tanned skin.
I was ultimately diagnosed with Vitiligo which sent me on an all-out crusade to find products, treatments, and ingredients that would remedy my condition. I was always interested in skincare, but being diagnosed with a skin condition really set me on my path in the beauty industry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many aspects of the business that have seemed effortless and other aspects that have tested me to the point of wanting to give up. I’ve made every mistake along the way, and I’m still here! And I wouldn’t trade a single mistake for anything!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about January Labs – what should we know?
My business is called January Labs, and it’s a curated line of skincare products designed to help people have healthy, glowing skin.
We are known for our high-performance ingredient formulations that address skin concerns such as hormonal breakouts, pigmentation issues and signs of aging while being nurturing and beneficial for sensitive or troubled skin.
We combine both soothing and active ingredients in pH-optimized blends, so all of the ingredients support one another and enable them to function at their highest level.
I am most proud when customers share how our products have helped change their skin and improve their self-confidence. The correlation between healthy, glowing skin and overall happiness is remarkable!
We believe the best routine is one that’s quick and easy and that works really well alongside products from other brands–especially since it’s rare that anyone uses just one line of products anymore.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I am an incredibly patient person, and I truly believe that everything is going to happen exactly when and how it’s supposed to.
My ethical standards are incredibly high, and I always try to do the right thing and rectify things when I screw up!
