Meet Janelle Corpuz Hethcoat of Jupiter Soundscape

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Corpuz Hethcoat.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Janelle Corpuz. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I am a Los Angeles based certified sound healer and practitioner of magical arts. My use of music to heal started at an early age when I would lock myself in my room at the age of nine and sing for hours to karaoke cassette tapes. Singing allowed me to release the loneliness and not belonging I felt at such an early age.

I began my career as a recording artist at the age of 20, about the same time as I began my career as a designer in the fashion industry. After working at multiple well-known brands, and releasing a handful of music projects and tours, I found that both roads felt like dead ends, driven by stress, fear of failure and worst of all ego. I battled substance abuse and depression.

Around the same time in 2014, I began my esoteric and magical studies with Naha Armady at House of Intuition on Sunset. I began to regain my power and my identity. I got sober. With the passing of my father in 2015, my reality was shaken to its core, and my evolution was abruptly prompted.

In the months after he passed, I was visited in a dream by the Archangel Metatron who showed me something which I deciphered as needing to start an ethical clothing brand called Kether. Not until the experiences which happened a few years after was it clear that his visit had nothing to do with clothing.

My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant and were met over the course of two years with two consecutive miscarriages and a failed artificial reproductive cycle. At this time, I received the message that I needed to use sound to heal myself in order to have a child.

So in August of 2017, I traveled to Dallas Tx to receive my sound healing certification from teacher and visionary Dr. Paul Hubbert at the Institute for Holographic Sound Healing. After my last failed IVF cycle in which the doctors told me I would not be able to have my own children, I received a message to use a crystal egg and crystal bowls in combination everyday to directly send healing frequencies to my sacral chakra.

I then received a message and instruction that ancestral karma in my maternal line needed to be cleared. I performed this rite along with other family members present. A month later, something happened to me that I like to call “the spark.” I’ve never thought myself to be claircognizant, but somehow I knew. I knew there was a life inside me. I waited. And sure enough, it was true.

My daughter was born to this earth on July 5th, 2018 a healthy 11 pounds and 2.5oz. At nine weeks of pregnancy, I made the decision to quit my job in the fashion industry and become a healer. I felt obligated to give back to the world what the universe gave to me. Since Jan 2018, with my daughter in my belly, I had been using the gift of channeled sound to heal in private session and in the ceremony.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not a smooth road but a happy and fulfilling one. I think most the struggle has been internal. Being in my head about my gift, questioning, second-guessing, doubting. But fortunately along the way I have found a tribe of sister healers that have been there to uplift, support and encouraged me to fully step into my truth.

It wasn’t easy telling my husband either that I wanted to leave my 20-year career in fashion, that paid a good steady paycheck, to be a healer. But again, fortunately, I am married to a very understanding and supportive person that believes in me and who knows my happiness is reliant on me doing something I feel a purpose in, and that is helping people to heal.

It’s also not easy being an entrepreneur and a new mom. I have to really be mindful and present in keeping my priorities straight, and not spreading myself so thin that nothing gets the attention it deserves.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I specialize in private and group sound healings with crystal bowls, and vocal toning. I create ceremonies for healing with intentions that are aligned with planetary energy. My workshops usually begin with a self-discovery exercise, whether that be a visual or sensory meditation or a tarot exercise. Then I begin to explain the planetary energy we are working with, and why it is opportune to work with the intention, we have chosen.

Usually, these ceremonies are crystal grids, candle/fire ceremonies, cacao, or flower mandalas coupled with a crystal bowl sound bath meditation to help the participant go into a theta state, so whatever needs to be released in their energetic bodies can come to the surface to be released. I’m proud to have grown my consistent following of people who have chosen sound as their healing modality. I’m just happy to have been able to help anyone.

And I think what makes me different in this is, really what makes everyone different from each other, that I have my own unique voice with my own set of stories that I use to learn from and teach in turn. I also do combine ritual magic with sound, and that is something that I have never seen done before. Usually, the two things are mutually exclusive.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like LA is definitely a good place to start. In my experience, the healing and the yoga community have been very open to people just starting out and is quite supportive.

This is just my first year doing this, and I feel as though I have been welcomed with open arms. There are opportunities to do this everywhere because everyone needs some type of healing.

Everyone needs a person who they feel understands, and that’s the beauty of this work. If someone was just starting out, I recommend that they start out with themselves, and then their families (wherever that is) and then their friends.

Because if we cant start out there and heal ourselves and the people closest to us then its like you’re skipping the essentials and missing the point. Our city can also get more and more inclusive.
