Meet Jan Knapik and Lamorna Watts of The Source Realty Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jan Knapik and Lamorna Watts.

Jan and Lamorna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are British born and both come from an historic town called Bristol in the Southwest of England known for Banksy, Massive Attack, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and the invention of Drum and Bass music amongst numerous other things!

Although our folks live just 20 minutes apart in Bristol, UK, we coincidentally met here in LA when I moved into the same building as Jan in 2014. Fast forward a few years, a lot of study and two real estate licenses later, we created a bespoke company called The Source Realty Group, which we proudly convene underneath the Keller Williams Brokerage in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

With backgrounds in News and Entertainment industries we bring a diverse wealth of knowledge to our company and can certainly participate in some interesting conversations! Well travelled and personable with a major enthusiasm for real estate, we strive to exceed our clients’ expectations, setting the bar a little higher each time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No! Starting a new business and transitioning into a new field of work is never easy! There were definitely some tears and frustrations along the way but we stuck at it, persevered and anything that we struggled with we overcame. The hardest factor for us initially was actually finding the clients – we didn’t join a team and get fed leads like most other new agents. We had to get out there, hustle and prove ourselves. It took almost a year for us to make our first sale but we refused to give up, stayed positive and then we had our break through. Thankfully we have a great mentor with over 20 years of experience in the industry that has been and still proves to be invaluable. This is however a fast-moving industry, it is constantly evolving and changing so to be a great agent you have to evolve and adapt with the market. Part of the excitement of this business is that no two transactions are the same and everything is negotiable!

Please tell us about The Source Realty Group.
We deal with residential sales and leases primarily but we have also facilitated commercial deals.

The vision of the Source Realty Group is to provide stress free exemplary service to all of our clients. First-time homebuyers, longtime owners or savvy investors, we endeavor to provide utmost care and quality of service to fulfill our clients’ unique goals. We strive to understand our clients’ requirements and objectives and pride ourselves on our communication skills. We are most proud for our recognition of being personable, dedicated and readily available for our clients at all hours of the day, all this develops a trusted bond. This and our attention to detail with our tailored contracts (we run our own files and don’t appoint a TC – Transaction Coordinator like most other agents) we believe truly sets us apart from other companies.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Lamorna: Trips down to Cornwall. I recall frequently body boarding in the freezing, unpredictable and rough sea along the beautiful Cornish coast. I loved being wild, free and totally fearless 🙂

Jan: Family day trips along with my two brothers to the sea-side town of Weston-Super-Mare in what can only be described as a ‘Fred Flintstone’ car. It was an old Morris Minor Traveler, It had holes in the floor so you could see the road moving beneath you and a rotting wooden frame that frequently grew mushrooms in it! But we all absolutely loved it and were very sad when we had to say goodbye to it 🙂
