Meet Jamyr Greene of FILMSBYJTG

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamyr Greene.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a 22 years old doing video production and photography since I was a junior in high school at the age of 16. Now I’m senior at Montclair State University majoring in Television / Digital Media with a concentration in TV Production.

Throughout the past years, since I’ve been involved inside and outside of school with video, photography, editing, graphic design and fashion. The summer of 2017 was countless clientele from music artists to models. My ideas began by reaching an artistic boundary. Photography became a serious factor in my career because I learned more angles and deeper concepts.

In the summer of 2018, I’ve done so much in a short span of time. Between producing videos and photos to getting my first experience with a production company. In 2018 and 2019, I was apart of the Hot 97 Summer Jam media team as a videographer/photographer. This being my first concert experience was exciting because I was working. Artists from Meek Mill, Tory Lanez, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Remy Ma and etc. performed that night. Capturing video and pictures from the event gave me a leap into the industry.

The week after Summer Jam, I was given the opportunity to go on tour with rapper Casanova. My job was to record video and take pictures of him from city to city. We traveled to Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte, Washington D.C and Los Angeles. Flipping videos and pictures to him everyday was challenging knowing the timing of everything but was still a great experience. Casanova would have multiple radio station interviews in one day and I had to capture everything. Plus, if he had a booking later in the night, I would have to film and take pictures. While in LA, I went to my first BET Awards show which was life-changing. Just seeing the people winning awards to the speeches inspired me because I can be in that position one day. With all these experiences, I was able to achieve new goals. During the summer of 2019, I interned at XXL as a videographer/editor. It’s become a great experience just being in that media field.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The challenges have come from all sides. Each videoshoot, film or photoshoot I’m apart of, I learn from what I could do better to incorporate with the next project. There’s been times when I’ve completely put myself below the bar but manifested through. One of my biggest struggles was actually directing videos because I was so good on camera. I had to trouble actually explaining my meanings.

FILMSBYJTG – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m known for filmmaking and Photography mostly and that my artwork speaks for self when it comes to those categories. Even when I’m working with clients the say, “like out of all the people that I’ve worked with, you’re probably the most patient and attentive to us.” This is huge for me because I want to make sure that my client, my friend or whoever is comfortable while we are working together and creating because we all are coming together for one project. I’m an outside the box thinker so I have no limits to whatever I create and don’t let anybody stop me from it.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My big characteristic is my communication because I’m a good person when it comes to talking to people. Interacting with them and making sure that you guys are on the same page and not just focusing on the art itself like get to know the person too while you’re at it.
