Meet James Brock

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Brock.

Thanks for sharing your story with us James. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Prior to this particular day I had already started two businesses in which I allowed myself to walk away from due to my circumstances in life. On the day in which I decided I would finally commit to what I felt was my purpose in life I recall days maybe even weeks prior feeling this burning desire to see myself acting in skits, or rapping, the best I could describe this feeling is like being hungry, you can’t ignore it. I would wake up day after day feeling this hunger pain, and this feeling was GOD calling me to act on my purpose.

The day I decided I would commit was a normal day of work, I’m a truck driver and we work random hours ranging from 8-16 hours a day. The current company I work for will also send a driver on a second run if he finishes his route early, and that day I was chosen to do a second run. I arrived at the yard and I was flat out told I have to do another stop, and I had no say so I was completely powerless, I was furious I was ready to go home and I was hungry, finally I’m heading out to do this second run which was about an hour away, I began thinking to myself and telling myself the only way out of working for people and doing things you don’t like doing is for you to follow your dreams, and do what you think about and see yourself doing, and I finally said to myself I commit! It’s my only way out!

From that day on I started to make skits I even auditioned for a local movie, I did not make the cut, but I told myself I wouldn’t quit following my dreams if I’m denied, or face challenges, So after making so many skits and recording a few videos of rapping and posting them on IG and FACEBOOK, I came across a video with a man by the name of Eric Thomas a motivational speaker, and I felt as if I could do what I saw him do in the video I watched as well. Days after watching Eric Thomas , I remember getting a fresh haircut and I was feeling nice and handsome so I started to record a video of myself speaking and I finally gained the confidence to post my first motivational video on Instagram and it turned out pretty well. After that moment I started thinking about speaking to an actual live audience, I did some research and began to develop my first speech. Day after day I’m posting motivational videos and a former football coach of mine informed me there would be an football all star game coming up and I took advantage and asked if it was possible I could deliver this speech to the players, and thankfully the coach allowed me to do so, there were about 50 high school athletes in attendance, and to make it even sweeter my 2nd time speaking was on my birthday.

After speaking to the kids I felt a feeling Only football had ever given me in my life. I’ve been playing football since I was about nine old, and I have grown to love the game so much, the feelings I would feel from making big plays and having a big game was incredible and speaking gives me the same feeling of euphoria that only football has ever given me, and at that point I knew I had finally found my purpose in life. Everyday I post motivational videos, I’ve spoken to live audiences about ten times since February 21st 2019 which is my birthday, I create my own theatrical motivational videos, I interview local entrepreneurs, and I have started my own brand! and the purpose of my brand is for people to congratulate themselves for all they’ve been through, yet they never quit rather it be school, everyday life, following your dreams, I just want people to be able to think “man I made it through everything and I congratulate myself for my process and what I’ve been through”.

Motivating and helping others is extremely important work. However, we’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As I said I started two businesses that I failed to complete before getting to this point in my life, so to finally be where I am today, is a blessing, things have been very rocky for me. I struggled with understanding I had to work in order for my business to be successful. I honestly wanted to start a business and put other people to work so I can stay home with my feet up making money, so I didn’t really want to work too hard.

I’ve struggled with planning correctly, I’ve struggled financially, mentally some days I don’t feel so confident or as motivated, I had to learn LIFE is going to continue to happen during this process, I used to give up and quit on things in the beginning stages of creating a business, and finding my purpose in life, not really grasping the concept of trusting the process.

Trusting the process and not giving up are so important.  What else should we know about you and your work?
My companies name is CLAPITUP, it’s an LLC, and what I do is create motivational videos, and I speak publicly. I’m most known for my daily motivation videos, and what im most proud of is seeing my personal growth, and actually fulfilling my purpose in life, and helping many others while I do it!.

What sets me apart from other people is I’m an open book in many of my videos I speak on my mistakes in order to inform others on what he or she should avoid doing to make the same mistakes I’ve made, and the content I create as far as theatrical motivational videos I feel is on another level. I choose not to wait on people to get things done regarding my vision, so I will not allow myself the excuse since no one helped me I couldn’t complete my goals. I’ve realized everybody does not have the drive or dedication I have for my own vision so I have no time to wait for anyone, with or without He or she I must make progress.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to continue to do interviews, become more creative with the content I put out, and continue to grow my brand, with investing, and never giving up.
