Meet Jamei Lauren

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamei Lauren.

Jamei, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I would have to say everything happened very organically. It started with my boyfriend and I influencing the world with our content, which was to display what real black love looks like. As our influence started growing I began to brand myself individually alongside with branding ourselves collectively as a couple. I wanted people to know what kind of woman I was and what I stood for outside of seeing me in content with my boyfriend. So we thought about how to brand myself and came up with the self-titled brand JameiLauren. I always loved both my first and middle names individually, but never look at both of them together as one to complete my brand name. I always knew I wanted people to know my name, but wasn’t quite sure on how they would know it then we decided my name, JameiLauren, was perfect! It’s originality and unique spelling of my 1st name mixed with my middle name was a perfect way to symbolize who I am! From there, I decided to display one of my passions (haircare), my lifestyle, & my relationship and that’s how my brand began to take off. People appreciated that I was authentically me and stayed true to who I am and what I stand for. That is how the JameiLauren brand started and grew to where it is today!

Has it been a smooth road?
Although majority of the way has been pretty smooth, one of the major struggles I could point out would be trying to create content on a limited budget. Once your brand is established in the influencer world, your fan base looks forward to your content on a consistent basis and creating content does cost. Having the right lighting, filming items, editing items and all does take time and money. So when you don’t have a large budget, you must be creative as possible to reach your audience and more. Another struggle at times is being consistent. Consistency is key, however, consistency requires time. Finding a balance between a full-time job and creating consistent content can be a struggle. Once you get into a groove of balancing time and budgeting money these struggles can be manageable! Another struggle is executing large projects. I am working on some really exciting new projects for my brand and it takes a solid team to execute.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My new business has not been announced as of yet. My team and I are very excited about the rollout and can’t wait to announce. In the meantime, we have some new merch on the way along with great content and many other services you can find on my Instagram page @JameiLauren.

I’m proud of being able to work with great people that believe in my vision. My business is not just for me, it’s something I created for the world. What sets me apart is that I am not a follower. Staying true to your self and continuing to work hard has always allowed me to grow and succeed.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I would have to say that I love the culture of the city the most. The vibes that come from Los Angeles are very one of a kind. There is so much history behind the walls and grounds of the city. I love how our cities are minutes away from local beaches and beautiful views. I also love the hustle mentality that our city forces out of you. Most people are on a mission to make a way in an industry or as an entrepreneur. It’s very inspiring!

One thing I dislike about our city is the amount of people living in poverty, which ultimately results in a very high percentage of people without a home or any shelter. I wish the numbers were not so high and that we had a lot more ways to get them all the supplies and assistance they need. Next, I think I speak for us all when I say, I strongly dislike the traffic & the parking in the city the most. Have you ever spent 2 hours in traffic? To just go 15 miles to get there and there is no street parking Available or permitted! Wow, the struggle is real ha! Other than that, I love our city!
