Meet Jalynn Jones of Adrenne. The Business Boutique in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalynn Jones.

Adrenne. is most known for its motivational resume writing, creative career coaching, and business solutions. Initially, Adrenne was founded in 2015 in Charlotte, NC. We changed our name in 2018 and officially filed for LLC status to advance toward national expansion.

It will not take long to notice that Jalynn Jones is not your average businesswoman. She is Intuitive, Innovative, and Adaptive! She’s an edgy entrepreneur and a full-time medical professional with a flair for social advocacy. Business lives in her heart, not on her sleeve. Individualism comes first to Jalynn, and her career profoundly commits to the empowerment of other small businesses and creative powerhouses. With nearly ten years of experience curating clientele, Jalynn spent the majority of her youth under the mentorship of successful, nontraditional business owners which influenced her passion for ideation, value generation, and formation services.

Now the owner of Adrenne. The [Virtual] Business Boutique, Jones looks forward to offering a variety of consultative services that maximize personal growth. Adrenne. provides access to affordable advisement for clients who are determined to monetize on their personal brand power. Adrenne. is affectionally named in honor of Jones’ grandmother, Louise Adrenne Cromartie – Moore. Although Jalynn was born over a decade post her grandmother’s passing, she always shared a kindred relationship with Louise’s beauty, clairvoyance, smarts, and genuine giving spirit. The organization is also managing the flagship firm, Essential Empowerment Community Services (EECS) which was created in 2015 out of the pure need to support college graduates transitioning into the workforce. Four years later, Jalynn has written hundreds of resumes and even ghostwrites for other certified resume writers who outsource for quality work.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The resume writing industry isn’t really regulated and the service typically costs anywhere from $100-$2,000 depending on the level of service and company providing the service. The struggle was real because I had minimal experience and reputation nor did I know that resume writers were racking up so much money! I sold my first resume and cover letter bundle for $13.00. This process takes hours so the challenge was that my first years in business created a large financial deficit. My clients were mostly from marginalized communities that were underemployed or unemployed. I did not want to overcharge. I was terrified that if my rates increased, I’d lose my entire customer base. It took me several years and a lot of courage to finally scale my business appropriately. Straight out of college, most students should have received job placement and resume development support from their university’s career service department, however, rates of unemployment for new grads are at alarming rates.

The road wasn’t easy because this business was founded while I too, was a new graduate trying to find my place in the workforce. After hundreds of applications and investments in travel to interviews across the nation, I finally landed a role in healthcare as an Administrative Assistant. I was now a small business owner, an entry-level worker, with a bachelor’s degree making $15 an hour while also attending graduate school. Since I did not come from wealth or have many resources, I pushed very hard to be “successful” in any way imaginable.

I was fighting my own fight to be seen, appreciated, and heard in the workforce which was constant fuel to bring change and awareness to millennial & minority excellence. I increasingly climbed the ladder in healthcare but was denied of many promotions and comparable salaries due to my age and skin color. After obtaining my Masters in Gerontology in 2018, I relocated to Los Angeles, CA to advance my career.

To date, over 550 clients have been served by Adrenne with much success and progression in my writing and counseling skills. While growing the business, I was testing the strategies I taught to others to my career. I am now a six-figure earner who doesn’t look for employment, employers find me! Through LinkedIn presence and strong networking, I encourage others how to do the same.
