Meet Jair (MAJIC) Mendez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jair (MAJIC) Mendez.

Jair, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Music has been something prevalent in my life since as far back as I can remember embedded in my soul. Without necessarily realizing it at first, my entire life led me to become the artist I am today. The music my dad showed me, the city I moved to, my philosophies on life, my underlying love and passion for music just grew and grew. I always knew I had messages I wanted to convey, in my own words and messages that could make the listener literally feel magic, like as a kid when it was Christmas time and you heard a certain song or watched a show and you just felt it in the air what time it was.

That’s where the “MAJIC” comes from, wanting to provoke that feeling in people’s lives. It started when I reconnected with 6PATH & CHECK$$ in 2015, the cousins of my best friend who I’ve all known since the ages of 6 & 7. 6PATH and I both had been wanting to make music and writing for a long time and when we finally took the steps to make it happen, it started something great, both with amazing pens, but a lot of work to do. As we were doing this CHECK$$ had been working on his own to get where he needed to be and he wasted no time. As time went on we went through phases of growth, learning new flows, going through things gaining new perspectives and mentalities, and new ways to approach the music and becoming legitimate. We are the Rap collective GAWD $HIT.

Has it been a smooth road?
Many of the obstacles on the road have been within, at the end of the day you’re responsible for yourself and creating the reality you truly want, making your dreams come true. Patience was a huge thing for me, sometimes you just wanna be heard and win but you have to be patient, it’s even more beautiful when you see the payoff and the fruits of the labor. None of this comes easy and it all starts within yourself, your work ethic, your habits, your passion, the way you react to certain situations, once you got these things in check I believe you’re working on the highest level of being. That goes for anyone that is aware they’re in an unhappy place but aren’t making a change, it’s shocking how many people you see going to a job they hate and gave up on their dream before it even started. You have this one God-Given life, make it count and attain what you truly desire from it.

We’d love to hear more about your work. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating MAJIC, I want to give the listener to have a soundtrack to their life, things to reflect on, and know that everything is exactly what you make it. Life is a crazy ride and I want you to enjoy every bit of it, the happiness, excitement, love, and even heartbreak, feel them to the fullest and truly live. This perfectly describes my Tape dropping this year “Chaos Majick” where I’ll touch these subjects, and convey them in a way your soul will feel.

What I’m most proud of as a group is how far we’ve come through hard work and each growing as individuals both mentally and artistically. Going from barely being able to flow on a beat, to having so many you can’t hold me down. What I feel sets me apart is my versatility to be able to create with anything that’s in-front of me, and make the pictures in my head come to life, in ways that haven’t been done before, you’ve never heard someone like me. I say this as humbly as I can, I’m on some other shit.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I don’t dislike it, I see how it can be improved and see many of lost people that need a change in mentality. I want them to help each other grow and lose envy, lose the crabs in a barrel mentality. Other than that it’s nothing but love for my city and the people in it that have shown so much love and I’m forever grateful, it will come back to you a million times over. The talented artists coming out of it that’ve have been putting in work, like BREACH, COZYBYC and the clique, and many more that’ve been putting ON for the city of Palmdale. I wanna thank God, my wonderful parents, my G$ brothers, and everyone who’s helped me, shown me love, and inspired me along the way, it’s barely just begun.
