Meet Jair Gonzalez and Franny Cheese of Trap Pod in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jair Gonzalez and Franny Cheese.

Jair and Franny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Both Franny and I (Jair) are from immigrant parents and raised as Los Angeles natives. I grew up around the San Fernando Valley in Pacoima, CA. Franny would move back and forth from La Puente to Van Nuys. We met through our mutual friend Terell Robinson who we both knew through skateboarding. Once Franny and I met we noticed a lot of our talents and drive are similar and that’s what really grew this partnership for the Trap Pod. We are both hard working people who understand the struggle of working a full-time job and still having a dream. We’ve both have had crappy and annoying jobs, but the vision we both share is what really pushes us to continue. From music, art, skateboarding to just being Angelinos, the Trap Pod is to feed content of all listeners and viewers. This is what makes our podcast and Los Angeles so unique.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This journey has not been an easy one as there have been so many changes, as well as a lot of trial and error to the Trap Pod. At the beginning I wasn’t supposed to even be on, I originally had our good friend Nile and just Franny Cheese do the first episode, but I had found a way to mess (F#@$) that one up (that’s for another time…) and then scheduling and just changes happened that we waited months until we just decided to do it ourselves. As time has been going, we also added Anthony Zavala to do sports and eventually got his twin brother Rene Zavala to be on as well. Eventually, that ended up being a new “Sports Segment” that was recorded separately and Ismael Chavez (aka Highlighter/HL/ISH) was eventually added and we called that segment “No Cap”. We dropped that segment as life seems to happen and schedules and all didn’t match, but we do hope to have them back on.

Now it’s just Franny and I who do the Trap Pod together. What a lot of our listeners and friends don’t know is that him and I had a bit of a miscommunication and almost just gave up on all of this. Luckily both of our drives and our common sense to put our ego away and reason with one another brought us back and stronger than ever. We now have Ismael Chavez come and help with the podcast a bit more with his opinions as well as Joshua Gonzalez and Kelly Abou as our main photographers and videographers for all of our content we upload to YouTube and all DSP’s (Digital Streaming Platforms).

Please tell us about Trap Pod.
Every Thursday night we record our episode and by 9 P.M. we upload the audio to all DSP’s and our videos go up to our YouTube channel usually on Friday night or early Saturday mornings. Our content consists of world events, music, art shows, entertainment, skateboarding, concerts to just about everything that we experience as local Angelinos and our travels as well. We chime in with our opinions on all these subjects and try to have a conversation to share our individual personalities as well as knowledge. Although sometimes we cover some serious subjects, we do lighten things up a lot with our humor and basically our podcast is just 2 or 3 guys just hanging out and shooting the bull with one another.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We think the luck of just being able to be raised in Los Angeles and able to experience this city as a whole since kids. We have been lucky or blessed to be raised in such a diverse part of the world.
