Meet Jade Zuberi aka Soul

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Zuberi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started dancing at my 1st talent show which was 3rd grade, realized the joy it brought to others, and kept going all the way to my senior year in High School with only skipping one year of it in 8th grade.

Dropped out of college due to dance and music being my distractions from the books around 2011, then pursued the career of art full fledge with no regrets. Being extremely happy and been growing ever since, traveling the world to winning a contest from all over to making history for Detroit.

I knew I wanted to build and leave a legacy for Motown as one of the best to ever do it on the floor and anything I touched regardless, I strongly believe from my achievements and those I’ve impacted, I’m doing just that.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road, however, it hasn’t been a super bumpy road either.

Like all journeys, we’re always going to run into trials & tribulations, especially in the realm of artistry. I mean a kid who grew up in both the inner city and suburbs of Michigan, I didn’t really have close role models in that field to look up to or to even give me a blueprint of what to follow in a way.

So everything I did was just by figuring things out on my own mainly with the help of my mother Joa Zuberi & father (RIP) Jabulani Zuberi who gave me basic life knowledge and tons of confidence to be able to know if I wanna go after something, I can obtain it.

But things like not knowing where your income is going to come from or come in next when you don’t have a 9-5 or even a regular job, can be a bit stressful along with not finishing college, so as society would have it, you don’t really have something to fall back on in that regard.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Soul story. Tell us more about the business.
So SOUL is my own business, I am my own business. I am an Artist who uses dance, photography, film & music to speak to the people of this world. Of course, I have other brands within what I do in my artistry, but SOUL is what I’d say is my dance stage alias that most know me by at the moment.

ALL of them have one huge thing in common. IMPACT.

Whatever I create, must come from a place of depth, from something I feel needs to be said, seen or heard in some fashion to get others to think & see in a different way. I’m never looking to follow trends or even operate out of quantity but always quality.

I’m very proud of how far I’ve come in my accomplishments in such a short time, I mean I started doing this professionally since 2009 so, 8 years isn’t really that long of a time if you think about it. Plus me going on 27 in October really puts things in perspective, so yeah, I have God on my side so he’s been having me move mountains right out the gate.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck. I honestly don’t believe in luck anymore.

I feel like its a crutch for us as humans to view what we get or don’t get in life justifies Chance and takes away all responsibility that we bring to the table.

Which is funny I’ve literally heard people tell me, or you’re so lucky that you get to do what you love & travel the world. I’m always like, how am is that luck?

It’s just setting goals and making things happen by any means to get you where you need to get to or be. If I want something bad enough in this world & lifetime, I put my all in it and go after it, it may take me a while depending on what it is to get it, however, I always… always obtain it. That is not luck!
