Meet Jacqueline Myers-Cho

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Myers-Cho.

Jacqueline, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always created things from costumes, to sculpture to paintings. I received my degree in Costume Design and minored in Scene Painting. I landed a job at Yale Repertory Theatre, while there I decided I needed to be a fine artist and left and came to Los Angeles. After three months of arriving here, I had my first gallery show and I was hooked.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been blessed with many opportunities to show and sell my art from galleries to multimedia events. At times juggling it all can be challenging but it is so rewarding working for myself. The one thing I wish I was better at is marketing, but I keep pushing myself and getting myself out there.

We’d love to hear more about your art.
I am considered a multi-discipline low brow, pop-surrealist artist. I am able to jump from one medium to another with ease. I create oil paintings, mixed media paintings, art dolls, sculptures, murals, textiles, installations and custom street and festival fashion.

I have lived in 18 states and three countries and that travel show up in my work unconsciously. My work appeals to all ages because I am playful and allow my sense of humor to show up. I guess the biggest thing is that I allow all the different parts of me to show up. It is important to me to only let good energy to go out into the world but that doesn’t mean my work is all sweet, I like to push you to edge.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am the proudest about being able to support my family from my art.
