Meet Jacqueline Kuykendall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Kuykendall.

Jacqueline, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I moved from San Diego with two young children away from my immediate family. Small savings, no job, an apartment with rent due and a borrowed car. I believed I would make a way to the life I wanted to live. After three weeks, I landed a temporary position at a bank in Pasadena as an IT Security Analyst. It ended up becoming a permanent position but after five years, I was laid off just as I was set to take my real estate exam. I was the only person in the exit interview that was in a good mood and hopeful for the future. I took my real estate exam and struggled as an individual agent until I decided to join a top producing team in my area. My business grew significantly and I feel like I received a Masters Degree in Real Estate working on the team. However, as a single Mom I wanted to grow my business and legacy for my two sons and a friend introduced to me an opportunity to work at The Agency in Pasadena where I am now.

Has it been a smooth road?
As a single income household it’s hard to imagine working without a steady paycheck. You have to maintain your kid’s lives, bills, your business and maintain a positive mindset all while helping your clients 100% to the best of your ability.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m so grateful to be in business with The Agency. They want to change the experience of buying and selling real estate within a collaborative culture which is so nice to work with like-minded people in business. I like to help first time home buyers that may feel overwhelmed with the process being someone to walk them through every step of the way is a wonderful part of my life. I also love to help sellers when moving onto their next phase of life whether moving up or moving down it’s always such a moving experience to live through their life memories. What’s sets me apart is my compassion and ability to see through what people are saying and help in any way I can. Maya Angelou said it’s about how you make people feel. And I pride myself on being a listening ear, a negotiator and the person that will make it happen no matter the circumstances for my clients.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I LOVE being here in Pasadena. It has a small town feel but we are a city. I am 12 miles from The Staples Center and DTLA where there are lots to do. I do wish housing was more affordable for all families in the popular cities.
