Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Pipkins.
Hi Jackie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started at the age of three at a studio called Reach For The Stars located in Ambridge, PA. I danced there from 3-18 and did cheer at Hopewell Senior HS for three years. I went to Penn State Altoona for one year before I decided to move to LA to pursue my career in dance.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been the smoothest road as things such as covid have impacted my entire career. I feel like I was just getting started right before it hit and got lost. I’ve lost several people I care about along the way and I know they are watching over me. I’ve also had a hard time realizing who my true friends are.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a professional dancer signed with BLOC Talent Agency. I am signed with them as a contemporary dancer but do other styles as well. I am most proud of how far I’ve come and all on my own. I think me being able to do so many styles as well as not looking for someone to give me opportunities sets me apart from others. If you want it, you have to fight and go get it.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I would say my family just because they’ve been there the entire way through the good and bad. I would also have to say my friends because they have helped me broaden what styles I do now. My Memphis family introduced me to an entirely new style of dance so I’d have to give them credit. And credit to my boyfriend for introducing me to the battle scene of dance.
