Has it been a smooth road?
Not At All. But Thats a Good Thing. In any business, I think you have to know what to do when things go wrong! How to handle things when you get thrown in the fire. That’s the best part of 2020. Learning more things about yourself now is more important than ever.
Struggles Along The Way:
1. Being a Female in a male-dominated business…lol…always a struggle
2. Learning how to be an open format dj, which keeps you working. Keeps you on your toes.
3. Learning that it is a Business, no a continuous party!
4. Turntables – Tech, and how technology starts off helping you but then makes it appear to be easy to outsiders, onlookers, and potential competition.
5. #covid19——A Struggle For The Ages..:)…..Forever Changing the Game, The laws of the Land regarding 1099 employment, Disability Insurance, etc.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Hustle Girl Entertainment is the Motto – DJ Jiji Sweet. 20 Plus years of experience. An Open Format Dj Specializing in rocking the party. An open format djs job is to read the Crowd! and Rock! Hip Hop, Rnb, Top 40, Reggae, Reggaeton, Old School. You Name It.
Most proud of Rocking with the Great DJs of our Time, and also having the respect of the Vets as well.
What Sets Me Apart from other djs is experience, the ability to rock turntables, cdjs, videos, and controllers and connect with folks from all age groups.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Oh Yes. Los Angeles, Hollywood is the entertainment capital. A lot of great clubs, great groups, radio stations, A lot of possibilities if you Hustle, Work Hard, and Connect with different folks. Bottom Line is to rock the party you are at. Every night is different. You gotta know what client is from of you.
Starting out, if you are a resident of Los Angeles. Learn what works here. Its the #2 Market, next to NY (#`1) Learn the market, which has a large Latino population (5-1). If you are going to go for gigs in any market, you have to know what works there in the clubs, on the radio, backyard events, etc. Know The Market!
You can make a great living in any market, you just have to Know Where You are, don’t get fooled by the internet and what it looks like. They always leave out the part about the Sweat and Tears!… LOL
