Meet Izzy Deluxe of Qbomb in Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Izzy Deluxe.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Izzy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always dreamed of being in a band, it felt more like a calling. But actually making that happen took some time. My main writing partner, Rem and I have been experimenting with music since about 2009! We had a video game-inspired hip-hop project before Qbomb called Gumboozle that we were really proud of, but it never took off. It wasn’t until 2016 that we decided to take another crack at the music thing, but this time with a live band and something more rock-inspired. We recruited some friends who were also itching to try their hand at being in a band, and have spent the last few years writing songs, playing shows, and recording music. The response so far has been incredible, and we’re so excited for the launch of our first album sometime in the summer!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing worth doing is easy! We had some lineup changes early on, and it always requires some financial burden to put out music. Until recently, I was doing the bulk of the managing and booking for our band, which was exhausting. But, we truly believe in what we’re doing, and we all get along very well, which makes it easy to push forward through the stressful times!

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
We’re a punk/metal band making the kind of music we would’ve loved when we were teenagers. The kind of music that gets your blood pumping and your creativity churning, but also has depth and purpose. We’re all very proud of our music, but I believe our visuals really help us stand out! We’re lucky to have several talented artists in our band who can design merch and various graphics, but we also have a wide network of artist friends who are happy to provide us with amazing gig flyers and other artwork.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Our friends and family have always supported us, but our fans are the real stars! A rock band doesn’t really exist unless people are showing up to shows, and we’re lucky to always have an amazing turnout. Our fans love to get rowdy, and we feed off that electric energy to provide them with an even BIGGER show. Anybody that comes to our concerts is immediately converted into a fan and becomes a part of the Bomb Squad. Come out to one of our upcoming shows, I promise you won’t regret it!
