Meet Isabelle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabelle.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was always the big girl, the curvy girl who loved to sing. I always seemed to get the snide looks of “she is so talented but doesn’t look the part of a star.” I grew up in an upper-middle-class family in Atlanta and wouldn’t say I had the easiest childhood but my family has also been the most supportive of me, always. Singing was my safe and happy place, and learning how to be the best singer became my greatest distraction.

I would say I really became an artist when I moved to LA and realized that I had things to say that others weren’t saying in music. With the social media era being so ‘on the surface’, everyone is dying deep down for someone to relate, and I knew that the life I had been through wasn’t all for nothing.

The first single I released is called “Unlabeled”; a power anthem to anyone who doesn’t feel good enough to stand confidently in who they are. I even made a music video for it and did things in the video that have changed my life forever. From that point on, I knew there was no going back with how honest I had become. My music talks body insecurities, my troubled childhood, a tough long-distance relationship, my grandmother and dementia, how I have a big mouth(ha!) my life. I believe we need more truth and less fluff. Everyone just wants to relate and heal. That’s what music has given to me, and hopefully, what I am giving back to others!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Is anyone’s road to anything ever smooth? That’s what makes it good! My road has been everything but smooth, but I know the destination is gonna be so special, and that’s what keeps me going. Yes, I have been through tough spots, we all have. I always hear a little voice inside saying ‘keep going.’ The road I’m on is the only one I could ever see myself taking, and I am truly grateful for it.

Please tell us more about your music, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I only release songs that to me feel true and honest to my life. I believe in quality music. Songs that remain timeless is all I ever want to put out. Being an indie artist, I have the freedom to put out my art exactly how I see it and that is invaluable. I believe that the good things always rise to the top.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck actually. I believe in hard work, and fate. I know I have a purpose in this life and I know it partly has to do with sharing my voice and songs to help others heal and to inspire!
