Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Barrocas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a graduate from the Art Institute, I weaved my way through the industry working in various design positions, freelance jobs, and creative roles. I learned the ins and outs of the large format industry and got addicted to seeing my artwork on such a huge scale. I had always wanted to own a business and at the first hint of opportunity, I took the plunge. I began networking with former clients, friends, family, and business owners in my area until I had a few opportunities forming. I spent my life savings on the best machinery my money could buy and got to work! A good friend of mine had recently started an event production company, so we worked together in the creation of pop-up art exhibits in L.A. I continued to grow my relationships, joined a global networking organization, and kept my eyes on growth and development. Over two years down the road and we’ve serviced over 100 very happy clients and had incredible opportunities working with artists of all trades. Currently, we are working with a nonprofit creative organization to give those same amazing opportunities to other up and coming designers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When first starting my business, I had formed a relationship with an event production company on the east coast. I had the prospect of doing a lot of business with the company when one week into opening my business, my connection at that company left, and my opportunity went along with it. I was scared and nervous about where I was going to get any business without many contacts. I knew I was going to have to hit the sales floor hard and therefore, didn’t waste any time. I began forming my social media pages, a website and knocked down doors trying to find any clients I could.

We exhaust research resources and become enveloped in the community behind our clients specific target market. As mi abuelo used to say, “always measure twice and cut once”. At Coastline Prints we cross our t’s, dot our i’s, and always measure twice.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’ve learned countless lessons along the way but most importantly, I’ve learned not to put too many eggs in one basket and always keep searching for the next opportunity.
