Meet Ímaiya-Milan Wright of Whutź Goodie in Palmdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ímaiya-Milan Wright.

Ímaiya-Milan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Whutź really goodie? My journey truly began when I decided to major in Broadcast Journalism at Cal State University of Northridge. During my third year of attending CSUN, I started my own podcast called The Real Xcape with my classmate who urged me to take a risk of putting my voice out there in a way that translated to others in an authentic fashion. The Real Xcape was a creative space where we discussed inspirational/motivational quotes by iconic individuals, hardships/ upsides of being a college student, and global news. The year after, I decided to continue to do the show but this time there was a twist to it, I was riding solo. I was taking 19 units, doing my own podcast, working, and interning at Dash Radio, as well as 88.5 FM.

Despite how hard I was working academically, The Real Xcape became my escape to keep me grounded in what I love, entertainment. The motto was still to keep the show inspirational and a vibe, therefore I added the element of interviewing upcoming artists. The hunger was unapologetic and I am still bringing the same energy. Whutź Goodie Inc. is a new business that exemplifies an extension of my individuality. It’s about BIG energy. It’s about setting your footprint. It’s about keeping it raw. It’s about unapologetic vibrations and it is about having fun while you do it. Last December, I decided to take another risk and become a Godtrepreneur to pursue my desires while working as the Women’s Category Manager for the urban sports brand, Ethika. While sitting at my desk one day, I realized I was not owning nor stepping into my purpose. I know my desires, but I’m still evolving into my purpose.

Two months later, I decided it was time for me to depart and get distracted with my passion. Growing up, I looked forward to coming home to watch 106&Park, MTV Cribs, and the latest twenty hits. Entertainment was my outlet and it is truly for me to walk by. To be a Godtrepreneur is to believe in yourself. It is that simple, BELIEVE. A word that carries value, but lacks true understanding when knowing to apply. Currently, I have my own show, Whutź Goodie w/ Codígo Red on Dash Radio and the newly station Ill Donuts Radio, where I now talk with established artists, hustlers, the world around us, and go getters who knows what they want; while still managing to consistently build my brand and keeping the vibes unapologetic.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some roads can be smooth, but there are roads with potholes and speed bumps. In March of 2019, two months before graduating college, my life flashed before my eyes. I was in a bad car accident that changed my life. It took a while for me to get back on my feet, but that experience humbled me. The entire time of trying to bounce back, I struggled trying to realign myself with who I need to be and what it takes to be who I want to become. Inside I was broken, but I still continued to apply pressure. I believe once you understand who you truly are, that is a different kind of healing. You’re unstoppable when you know who you are. If there’s anything I have learned, life is about consistencies, constants, work ethic, and patience.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Whutź Goodie – what should we know?
Whutź Goodie Inc. originated from the common saying I am known for on the radio and within amiable conversation. Whutź Goodie is an extension of my persona. As well as my personality hostname, Codígo Red (Code Red). I know you are probably wondering what does Codígo Red mean? Essentially, red is my favorite color and Codígo stands for identity. Everyone has their own fingerprint, as well as imprint/ impression they either do or don’t make on others. Nipsey Hussle, Rest In Peace, said it, the highest human act is to inspire and that is exactly what I plan to do. Along with being an entertainment host and voice talent, I motivate and model. For the past two years, I have been an entertainment host but I just recently branded my business in February. I am the business and I am my brand.

The actual business of Whutź Goodie will feature my interviews, apparel, and more goodies that I will share soon. I am most proud about what my company stands for, big energy and substance. Anyone who knows me is aware that I carry a lot of energy which brought me to the conclusion of making my slogan for Whutź Goodie, Unapologetic Vibrations. My brand is urban, cultured, fun, diverse, and raw, five words that give volume to my presence. I would consider myself a young lady with an old soul. I am different because I know substance and I stand for making substance cool again. In times like this, people are losing a true sense of Hip- Hop, culture, and what sets them apart. What sets me apart is that I am me, the original copy without a duplicate. I know I won’t lose because I show love, drive, consistency, heart, and furthermore, my spiritual grounding gives me clear vision.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
To me, the three qualities needed for my success includes consistency, patience, and a work ethic that work. With consistency, comes longevity and with longevity comes success.
