Meet Eytan Moldovan of I’m Different Snacks in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eytan Moldovan.

Eytan Moldovan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s. Two of the coolest decades. I always wanted to create a functional snacking brand that combines delicious taste with nostalgic memories. I wanted to bring back that connection.

I knew that it was important for me to work within a big category and create something that would appeal to myself and many others. I chose to enter the healthy snack world. I wanted to be able to scale and scale big but by doing good in the process.

I also realized that there was a huge disruption happening within the CPG industry and that consumers no longer wanted chemicals and nasty ingredients in their food. Everything was changing. I knew that I could contribute functional, clean, and “different” snacks to the movement.

A true passion of mine is to create something new and bring it to life. It’s the entrepreneur in me.  I love food and get to create food as my job. I also love production and being on the line. I work with great people doings things that I love. It’s a dream job.

Has it been a smooth road?
The early days were really rough. Creating the snack that I felt was just right was definitely a huge challenge. My team and I went through tons of different variations and techniques until we finally had everybody saying, “”wow this is awesome!” Development took us close to a year!

From that point, it was time for me to go produce it on a large scale. I ended up meeting with many different food processing facilities and either they had no production room for somebody new or they insisted on 100k minimum run which was way too much for a new start up snack company to take on. This scenario happened to me close to 20 different times.

I was relentless in trying to find the right facility to help us get launched and eventually I got lucky and found the right one. The rest is history….

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the I’m Different Snacks story. Tell us more about the business.
Aside from epic crunch and wickedly clean ingredients, the brand identity is rooted in the 80’s (my favorite decade). We channel nostalgia, and retro pop culture, appealing to consumers on an emotional level.

We have a unique lite and crispy high protein snack vs. the heavier less digestible alternatives. It is the first coconut cluster with high protein. Each cluster contains clean ingredients like mega healthy superfoods, no gluten, and nothing artificial. We are also NON-GMO Project verified.

We are launching at Bristol Farms and Lazy Acres this month. Two of our local favorite markets. We can also be found at the Joule hotel in Dallas in every room.

The feedback has been really rad so far! We have tons of retailers who have started to hear about us and are calling for product already.


How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
There is a huge disruption happening within the CPG industry and consumers no longer want chemicals and nasty ingredients in their food. Everything is changing at a rapid pace. In 5 to 10 years healthy eating will become more standard and a way of life. It will be the norm.
