Meet Illicit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Illicit.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Illicit is a hard rock band based out of Los Angeles. We have a multicultural background with members from the East Coast, Midwest, Peru, and India. Our members met at music school here in Los Angeles and bonded over a love of bands like Guns ‘n Roses, Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith.

We’ve have been doing shows in the Los Angeles area since early 2018 at legendary venues such as the Whiskey a Go-Go, the Rainbow Bar and Grill, and Molly Malone’s. We will be dropping our debut, three song, live EP called “Live from the Institute” coming out October 19th. It will be on all major streaming and downloading platforms.

Good luck with the drop of Live from the Institute! Has it been a smooth road getting to where you are today?
Yes and no. We’ve been fortunate enough to have found people who have similar musical taste, are extremely creative and have the same idea when it comes to the direction of the band and what Illicit’s music is supposed to sound like.

Unfortunately, we have lost two different drummers due to our original drummer moving back to Canada for personal reasons, and our second drummer moving to Nashville for a business opportunity. This, in turn, pushed back our schedule for recording our debut EP, but our current drummer has brought stability to the band which allowed us to finally get it completed.

What else should we know about the band?
At our core, Illicit is a rock band that combines elements of hard, classic, and modern rock. We pride ourselves in our musicality and live performance. Our priority is making sure that everyone that comes to see us has an experience they will never forget.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel that Los Angeles is a great place for our band. It is the epicenter of entertainment and you’ll have a hard time finding another city with equal or greater opportunity than LA, especially if you are a hard rock band.

  • Our EP will be available on all major downloading platforms for $2.99, $.99 for individual songs
