Meet Hollywood Photographer: Rebecca Gnasso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Gnasso.

Rebecca, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I was always interested in photography but it really started around 2007-2008 where I started taking friends portraits for myspace and facebook haha. Because of that, though, I really got into it so I took a class in high school and really fell in love the camera. I took some classes at a community college then moved to LA to work on being a freelance portrait/fashion photographer. A lot of people I’ve meet/worked for really helped me where I am today. Also constantly shooting and working in the field and has helped tremendously.

Has it been a smooth road?
Haha. Well, nothing always comes easy. Professional photography is hard to really get into. First, there’re so many great photographers out there! It’s important to really set yourself apart and find your own unique style, especially in fashion. It’s easy for a photographer to compare to other successful photographer, so really having to know yourself helps definitely but it’s difficult at first.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Like my really good friend Parisa says, nothing ever goes according to plan but nevertheless life continuously directs you in a direction where your talent and dreams collide. So as of now, I look forward to continuing my career in fashion photography, art, and film.

Let’s dig a little deeper into your story. What was the hardest time you’ve had?
Oh, man.. Well maybe I’m still kind of going through it. There’re so many great photographers out there and it’s hard to really set yourself apart and stand out. So I’m currently trying to really market myself and get photography out there. All of that might sound pretty easy, but I’m a pretty shy person. So I think trying to get myself more confident in myself and my work has been difficult. So I’m going through that currently haha. But I’ve met great clients through Instagram, Facebook, and other social media sites that really influence me and my work.

Do you ever feel like “Wow, I’ve arrived” or “I’ve made it” or do you feel like the bulk of the story is still unwritten?
Probably getting more and more bookings each month where I’m constantly working on weekends when I’m not working as a photographer / marketing director for Jasper Plum. So yeah, probably getting more emails for shoots for various brands!
